The Project Management Office at Abzena is responsible for managing outsourced drug development projects for key clients while ensuring alignment with Abzena’s functions, goals, and values. This Project Manager (Level 4) role will manage the planning, scheduling, and budgeting of product/process development activities at our Cambridge facility. These projects include activities across antibody/drug conjugates, analytical methods development/validation, protein engineering, bioassay development, cell line development and immunology. The role requires experience in at least one of these technical areas as well as a good level of understanding of the drug development process and some project management experience (at least one year). The successful candidate will also support the development of the PM at Abzena through coaching and guidance across the organisation.
There is a possibility that the role could be converted to a permanent position at the end of the maternity cover period, this will be dependent on performance.

Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of projects being delivered from our Cambridge site, using Abzena’s project management processes. Activities will include the following:
Develop project plans to meet client needs.
Track, adjust and report milestone deliverables to clients, as well as internally to the technical project lead, the Project Management Team and the Senior Leadership.
Assist with risk and risk mitigation planning.
Initiate and Chair kick-off meetings and Joint Team Meeting (JTM) including the development of the agenda, presentation content and recording actions.
Document agreements and initiate contractual changes to the project.
Experience with enterprise, resource, planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms is a major advantage in this role.
Ensure that our ERP system is updated accurately at regular intervals. This is a very important aspect of the role and has an impact on invoicing, cost control, revenue recognition, material tracking and procurement, forecasting and change management activities.
Assist with development of others in the PM organization by providing coaching and guidance.
Identify and support PM improvement initiatives.
Provide support for the transfer of services between sites.
Maintain positive personnel and client relationships through effective communication.
Operate to the highest ethical and moral standards and participate effectively as a team player in all aspects of Abzena's business and adhere to quality standards set by regulations and Abzena policies, procedures, and mission.
Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Life Sciences degree to MSc level or equivalent
A minimum 1 year project management experience, preferably within a CDMO/pharmaceutical/biotechnology setting
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Excel, with aptitude to learn new software and systems. Full training will be provided on in-house software applications
Specialised Project Management training or certification a strong advantage
Experience working in any role in a drug development or scientific service sector an advantage
Experience with enterprise, resource, planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) platforms a major advantage
Must have excellent time management and organizational skills
Must be comfortable directing / assigning activities within multi-specialised matrix teams, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of projects
Must be self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable.
