Summary: Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating production floor activities manufacturing the cable harnesses/assemblies, ensuring the safety of personnel, the quality, delivery, and cost of the product for the full satisfaction of our customers. Also support continuous improvement activities for increased productivity and cost savings while providing a safe and positive work environment for employees. Decision making, employee coaching & development, and critical thinking will be crucial to this role’s success. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities – include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Responsible for the coaching and development of assembly manufacturing team. Maintains clear lines of communication with all employees and fosters an environment of trust. 

• Owns the enforcement and compliance of safety systems and initiatives across multiple shifts to ensure a safe and accident-free environment amongst staff. Collaborates with safety committee on ideas for enhancements and progressive improvement. 

• Responsible for organizing production schedules to satisfy workload, meet production demands and maintain cost. 

• Measures KPI’s and routinely communicates results and areas of improvements to all staff. Always maintains transparency.

• Monitors manufacturing practices and ensures that the methods used are compliant with appropriate standards and company policy. 

• Holds assembly manufacturing staff responsible to ensure autonomous maintenance of all workstations and execution of 5S methodologies. 

• Responsible for supporting regular maintenance of equipment with the maintenance department to minimize downtime.

• Maintains the quality system in accordance with all ISO requirements and Corporate Directives. Participates in internal/external audit process multiple times per year. 

• Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and safe working environment while holding others accountable for the same.

• Actively participate in all LAPP Operating System, Lean, Continuous Improvement and other improvement methodologies to improve all aspects of the entire value stream.

• Holds team accountable for ensuring all deliveries meet LAPP’s Standard Terms and Conditions.

• Assist with environmental regulations in accordance with ISO 14001-2015.

• Responsible for maintaining training records and matrix of assembler experience levels. Prioritizes cross training and development of all staff with emphasis on individual growth and efficient workflow.

• Data extraction from SAP, analysis of the data through MS excel documents, preparing KPIs and dashboards is also an important requirement for this role. The data analysis will mainly include the elements of plan vs actual, find gaps, methods to fill the identified gaps, continuous monitoring of improvements to make sure it sustains. It will also include to review capacity details from the past data to help plan for future requirements. 

• Actively participation in SIOP process, WIP analysis, Inventory and Warehouse management including the annual inventory process.   

Supervisory Responsibilities: The Production Supervisor is responsible for providing direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Team and carries out all supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  Works to identify and develop core competencies of the team to ensure success.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Electrical, Electronics or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.

• Minimum 4-5 years of experience within a manufacturing environment of multiple production lines – experience in cable harnessing manufacturing will be preferred.

• Minimum 2-3 years management experience with people development success.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• IPC Certifications in standards like IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 etc. 

• LEAN or Six Sigma certifications will be preferred

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: This role currently requires no frequent travel, time to time it might be required for training, Customer or Supplier or Sister company visits. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Fluency in the English and Spanish language required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of SAP, and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.

COMPENSATION: After thorough market analysis, LAPP takes many factors into consideration when determining base salary such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, etc. of the candidate. The total compensation for this role ranged from $78,000-86,000 (including participation in LAPP's bonus plan).
