Position Summary: The Power Apps Architect and Lead Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable business applications and automations using the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, and Dataverse. This position leads the full development lifecycle from requirements gathering through deployment while defining standards, governance, and reusable frameworks for the Power Platform environment. A key part of this role is architecting commercial-grade, client-facing products and repeatable solution templates that can be packaged, maintained, and deployed across multiple customers and contracts.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Solution Architecture and Design

  • Design and implement enterprise-grade applications using Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven) and Power Automate.
  • Architect commercial Power Platform solutions that can be productized, licensed, or reused across clients.
  • Define system architecture standards and integration patterns with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, Dynamics, Azure services, and third-party systems.
  • Develop reusable components, connectors, and templates that reduce time-to-market and improve delivery consistency.
  • Knowledge of federated identity management (Azure AD, SAML, OAuth2) for secure data connections.
  • Maintain compliance with Axle’s IT, data management, and cybersecurity standards.

2. Development and Implementation

  • Build Power Apps that automate workflows, streamline business processes, and enhance the user experience.
  • Develop data connections and integrations using Dynamics, Dataverse, SharePoint, SQL, or other data sources.
  • Build complex workflows using Power Automate and Azure Logic Apps to connect systems and automate operations.
  • Create Power BI dashboards and reports for analytics and decision support.
  • Lead the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

3. Leadership and Collaboration

  • Serve as the technical lead and subject matter expert for Power Platform development and solution architecture.
  • Collaborate with product management and business development teams to define requirements for commercial Power Platform products.
  • Mentor and support developers, analysts, and citizen developers within Axle and partner organizations.
  • Coordinate with IT, cybersecurity, and DevOps teams to manage environments, permissions, and release pipelines.

4. Governance and Quality Assurance

  • Define and enforce Power Platform governance policies covering environment strategy, data security, and application lifecycle management.
  • Implement coding and deployment best practices, version control, and change management.
  • Maintain technical documentation, design diagrams, and solution reference architectures.
  • Conduct code reviews and performance optimizations to ensure applications meet enterprise-grade standards.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in application development, including at least 3 years with the Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Strong technical expertise in Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven), Power Automate, Dataverse, and Power BI.
  • Proven experience architecting scalable, secure, and reusable Power Platform applications and products.
  • Familiarity with Azure services, Microsoft 365 integration, REST APIs, and custom connector development.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proven Experience with Power Platform Build Tools, Azure DevOps, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell or scripting for environment automation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing commercial Power Platform products or marketplace solutions.
  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in a federal, research, or life sciences contracting environment.
