Sagent Pharmaceuticals is looking to hire a National Sales Director – Specialty Products. The National Sales Director is responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategies and achievement of sales objectives for Sagent’s specialty product division. This position is also responsible for the management and development of Specialty Business Managers (SBM), market activities, and company resources that are directed specifically at driving territory, regional and national sales volume.
The position requires an understanding of the clinical marketplace where Sagent’s products are sold, development of actionable business plan for the geography, participation in the formulation of a national strategy and tactics and for the implementation of the strategy and tactics
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for hiring, leading, teaching, motivating and inspiring a team of SBMs to achieve or exceed products sales objectives in their assigned geographic sales territories.
- Conducts regular field visits and business reviews with each SBM, while participating in their customer visits to ensure proper product positioning, compliance and sales call execution.
- Provides regular written and verbal feedback following customer and field visits that address and support both business development and career development.
- Leads SBMs in the development of Tactical Action Plans with marketing, promotional, and educational resources and ensures that these plans are executed.
- Creates, builds and maintains relationships and regular communication with physicians and key thought leaders as appropriate.
- Initiate developmental and training programs at the National Sales Meeting (NSM) for all SBM and when new training is needed.
- Interact frequently and ongoing with Sagent Pharmaceuticals sales and marketing leadership to establish and refine field sales implementation strategies that ensure proper product positioning within the marketplace.
- Responsible for managing the SBMs to ensure proper sampling compliance with both the patient and demo sampling programs.
- Responsible for managing the SBMs to ensure proper compliance with CMS Open Payments Program/Physician Sunshine Act.
- Works with marketing in the evaluation of new opportunities for additional products for the specialty division.
- Responsible for collaborating effectively and mobilizing all appropriate Sagent Pharmaceuticals resources.
- Ensure marketing compliance with all federal, state and local laws as it relates to sampling and the CMS Open Payments system.
- Ensure all promotional tactics adhere to requirements by FDA, all other relevant federal, state and local laws, applicable medical device and pharmaceutical guidelines and internal standard operating procedures.
Minimum Qualifications / Experience:
The Successful candidate will have at least 8 years of pharmaceuticals experience. 3-5 years of previous front-line sales management experience and experiences in clinical sales & new product launch experience is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a sales team towards meeting and exceeding objectives, with proven performance in building a team of sales professionals and managing them to success.

Education / Certifications:
- Minimum 4-year degree – BS/BA – required or equivalent experience and a proven track record of sales achievements.
- Reliable vehicle and safe driving record.
- Valid driver’s license required.
Travel Requirements:
- Willingness to travel – up to 12 overnights per month or 60% travel
