We are seeking a proactive Domestic Partnerships Manager to lead on the strategic management and development of BCU’s UK-based academic partnerships. This is a pivotal role responsible for identifying, cultivating, and managing a targeted portfolio of partnerships that align with the University’s strategic priorities, enhance student recruitment, and drive commercial growth.
Acting as the key liaison for our partner institutions, you will play a central role in shaping and sustaining high-impact relationships that deliver measurable outcomes for both the University and its partners.
We are looking for a motivated and dynamic manager who can lead in the following areas:
- Developing and managing a targeted portfolio of UK academic partners aligned with the University’s strategic objectives.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for partner institutions, ensuring a professional, consistent, and responsive approach.
- Identifying, evaluating and prioritising new partnership opportunities that support recruitment, curriculum, and commercial goals.
- Leading relationship management activities, including the creation of structured account management plans and joint initiatives.
- Collaborating with senior internal stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of partner-facing initiatives, such as recruitment campaigns, events, and progression support.
- Maintaining oversight of articulation and progression agreements, ensuring quality, relevance, and performance against agreed standards.
- Monitoring and reporting on partnership performance, providing insight to inform strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Identifying and developing commercial opportunities within partnerships, including CPD, pathway development and collaborative projects.
- Representing the University externally, attending sector events, network meetings, and institutional visits to promote partnership opportunities.
- Providing expert advice and insight on partnership development, supporting strategic planning and business case development.
- Maintaining awareness of sector trends and competitor activity, particularly within the college–university partnership landscape.
- Supporting governance and compliance processes, including due diligence, risk management and reporting requirements.
We are looking for an individual who has a deep understanding of the UK higher and further education landscape. Someone who can bring a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to managing complex partnerships.
The Domestic Partnerships Manager will be ale to demonstrate:
- Proven experience in partnership management, business development, or stakeholder engagement within higher education or a related sector.
- Strong understanding of the UK FE/HE partnership environment, including progression, articulation, and collaborative provision.
- Ability to manage multiple relationships and priorities, delivering high-quality outcomes to tight deadlines.
- Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, with confidence representing the University externally.
- Strong analytical skills, with experience using data to inform strategy and decision-making.

The appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
