Crow Island Elementary School (K-4) has an immediate opening for a full-time Special Education Associate (long term sub assignment).
JOB TITLE: Classroom Special Education Associate

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION
Provides assistance to students and teachers in the general education and/or special services environments
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Follow the directives of the lead teacher(s)
Work with individual students, small groups, or whole class of students to reinforce and enrich learning
Deliver interventions in the Response to Intervention (RtI) model under the direction of the lead teacher
Communicate effectively with children and adults
Assist the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing the skills of individual students based on their needs, special skills, or abilities
Support established classroom and behavior management procedures
Help students operate and care for equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher
Distribute and collect instructional materials to support the instructional program
Assist with supervision of students
Assist students as developmentally appropriate
Alert the teacher to any problem or specific information related to an individual student’s needs
Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
Participate in professional development, in-service, and training as required
Fulfill additional supervision and safety duties as assigned
Assist in ordering, cataloging, and storing instructional materials
Perform all other duties as assigned
EDUCATIONAL PREPARATION/LICENSURE/QUALIFICATIONS
Valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License.
Good organizational/leadership skills.
Meets established deadlines.
Clearance of FBI Background check and EHR/Faith’s Law required.
TB test within 90 days of hire date; Physical Exam within last year of hire date.
Valid First Aid/CPR Cards preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Moderate degree of physical stamina with occasional lifting of 10 to 15 pounds. Ability to move freely to various locations within office and school settings. Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and bending. Frequent repetitive activities including hands, arms, and legs for clerical related work. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Compensation based on the Winnetka Professional Agreement.
Daily Rate: $150/day
