JOB SUMMARY 

Value Plus Flooring is currently seeking a full-time Estimator to join our team in the multi-family construction industry. Together with organization and attention to detail, this position prepares and coordinates estimates on projects of all sizes as required by customer inquiries. The Estimator has a complete understanding of the project scope and provides excellent documentation to the team. This position reports to the Commercial Sales Manager and works Monday to Friday office hours at our Mendota Heights, MN location. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Review and evaluate requests for estimates. These requests may come from prospects, customers, and/or internal customers.

· Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.

· Review documents and understand scope of work to bid.

· Obtain pricing for materials and bids from subcontractors.

· Prepare cost analysis in computer by recapitulating material, labor, equipment, subcontractor and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.

· Where predetermined standard(s) are not available, make an estimate.

· Develop bid calendar and ensure timely completion of estimates.

· Once an estimate becomes a project, communicate with and turn over jobs to sales and project management team and assist in clarifying information regarding the project.

· Develop and maintain resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.

· Inform supervisor of any inaccuracies or omissions in quoted items or computer database.

· Follow and enforce all safety policies and procedures.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company guidelines, policies and procedures, and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. · 2+ years of work experience providing technical estimates in the construction industry.

· 6+ months of work experience with customer management software or application.

· Previous work experience using Microsoft Office applications as a daily requirement.

· Previous work experience in flooring coverings preferred.

· Previous work experience with CAD or similar drafting application preferred.

· Ability to lift up to 10 pounds without restriction and on a regular basis.

· Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing for training and project updates and to independently handle external and internal requests.

· Math skills acquired through high school diploma or equivalent to manage order quantities and understand measurements, billing, and customer payments and related financial transactions.
