GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Director of Experiential and Grand Openings serves as Ross' activation strategist, leading the development and execution of experiential marketing initiatives that bring the Ross and dd's discounts brands to life. This role represents a new and innovative marketing capability for Ross to create authentic brand connections through IRL and digital activations, including supporting 100+ new store openings each year, as well as year-round sustaining advertising efforts.
The base salary range for this role is $132,100 – $249,100. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Activations & GO Leadership
• Develop brand activation strategies that raise awareness of and engagement with Ross and dd’s discounts across our markets, customized as appropriate for individual stores / markets / target audiences.
• Own end-to-end planning and management of experiential initiatives including activation logistics, influencer partnerships, and content capture.
• Develop local marketing strategies for each Grand Opening (100+ each year); this may include activations / ceremonies, local TV / radio / transit, and OOO.
• Support internal engagement opportunities for Ross associates related to activations and Grand Openings.
Partnerships and Collaboration
• Partner with agencies and other 3rd parties, internal marketing partners and cross functional partners to develop and execute strategies, including creative, media, product and operational needs.
• Collaborate with the Marketing Analytics team to measure the performance of Experiential and GO activities and suggest adjustments for future campaigns / Grand Openings.
• Establish strong working relationship with the Field Team to support Grand Openings.
People Management
• Build out new capabilities on a 4-person team, including around activations and experiential marketing, as well as knowledge of new markets Ross is entering into.
• Grow talent pipeline by developing and preparing Associates for future roles through stretch assignments and mentorship
• Establish a culture of continuous improvement, smart risk taking, curiosity, and desire to push the brands forward.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• 7+ years of marketing experience, preferably within the retail sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
• Demonstrated success designing and executing experiential marketing and marketing for store openings.
• Strong expertise in brand strategy and customer engagement across marketing channels.
• Exceptional leadership skills, including a track record of building and optimizing new teams or functions.
• High business acumen and a results-focused approach to driving growth and efficiency.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working on collaborations / activations with musicians / in the music industry
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work.
