 Job ID#8612A - Under the direction of the Program Manager of TAY RRR, PIER and SEIPS, the Employment Specialist is responsible for engaging CH/YA FSP and TAY RRR consumers in pursuing competitive employment opportunities. The Employment Specialists are a part of the multidisciplinary team consisting of the CH/YA FSP and TAY RRR mental health staff.  SEIPS services are integrated into the consumer’s current mental health treatment plan. Employment Specialists provide individualized employment training and coaching and on-the-job support to CH/YA FSP and TAY RRR consumers during their employment in the community.
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:  
 
Must complete training in the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) evidence-based model of treatment prior to providing direct services with consumers.
 
Must participate in weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting for CH/YA FSP and TAY RRR as well as the SEIPS team meeting and individual supervision.
 
Develop an individualized Employment/Career Profile with each CH/YA FSP or TAY RRR consumer who chooses to participate in SEIPS.
 
Conducts rapid job search activities for each consumer with initial face-to-face employer contacts within 30 days after the development of the Employment/Career Profile.
 
Provide benefits counseling with youth to inform them of how current benefits may be impacted by commencing employment.
Responsible for providing support, coaching, resume development, interview training, and on-the-job support with consumers, as per the IPS model of treatment.
 
Provide individualized support in conjunction with the mental health treatment team to assist consumers in maintaining employment, by offering frequent in-person assistance, at least weekly, during the first month of taking a job, and then at least monthly for ongoing support.
Provide ongoing assistance to CH/YA FSP & TAY RRR consumers with career development, including offering diverse work opportunities and providing competitive job options with permanent status. Additionally, assist clients to advance in current job by asking for promotions and raises.
Assist clients with looking for additional education and training programs to further their vocational aspirations.
 
Conduct regular job development activities by making at least 6 face-to-face employer contacts per week for the purpose of building relationships with employers, describing how the SEIPS Program works, and explaining how the consumer’s strengths can be of benefit to the employer.
 
Develop relationships with local employers and businesses that may provide job opportunities for youth consistent with their preferences, as specified in each consumer’s Employment/Career Profile.
 
Collaborate with the Department of Rehabilitation to coordinate additional vocational rehabilitation services that may be needed by CH/YA FSP & TAY RRR consumers.

Qualifications


Possess bachelor’s degree in psychology, mental health or other social services.
Experience providing services to people with serious mental illness and vocational rehabilitation or related employment services.
 
Bilingual Spanish-speaking is highly desired.
 
Must have a valid California Driver License in good standing and valid personal auto insurance. Insurance coverage by the Center’s auto insurance carrier is a requirement.
 
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 
Must act in accordance with all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 and related state law confidentiality requirements. Must successfully complete the Center’s HIPAA training, pass the HIPAA test, and receive the Certification of Compliance.  Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.
 
Interacting with other employees at work is an essential function of the job.
 
Arriving at work on time and not leaving early is an essential function of the job.
 
Ability to function as part of multi-disciplinary treatment team, communicate and coordinate effectively with employers and outside agencies; good organizational and assessment skills.
 
Must possess computer skills to complete required program documentation within required timelines.
