The D477 Electromagnetics team is looking for a continuing professional to be the technical lead for a team of engineers in the area of underwater electromagnetics (UEM) signatures.
The successful candidate will become the technical lead for D477 Electromagnetics’ responsibilities regarding UEM signature, which includes:
- Whole-ship analysis and modeling
- Component and material modeling
- Research of sensor systems
- Supporting development of systems and methods that reduce electromagnetic signature
The successful candidate will perform the following on a day-to-day basis:
- Perform electromagnetics analysis and modeling in CST Studio Suite – Opera 3d
- Investigate new software/techniques for electromagnetic analysis and modeling
- Perform validation testing of analyses and models
- Perform research into new technologies, both hardware and software
- Provide technical oversight of all tasking related to UEM signatures
- Perform related tasking under Electric Boat’s Independent Research and Development (IRAD) program
- Maintain/provide overall project statuses and collaborate with management to determine next steps
Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Applied Mathematics
- 5+ years of professional engineering experience
- Ability to obtain a Secret DoD security clearance
Preferred:
- Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or Applied Mathematics
- Related experience in the following areas:
- Electromagnetic analysis/evaluation/modeling
- Electromagnetic hands-on testing (DoD or commercial), including familiarity with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, function generators, and other general electrical test equipment
- Ship/submarine signatures
- Candidates must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, which are necessary to function successfully in existing teamed environments.
- Candidates must possess strong mentorship, leadership, and oversight skills, which are necessary to lead a team of engineers.
- The ability to multi-task and possession of skills that permit independent functioning without significant oversight is also desired.
