Good Samaritan Family Resource Center (GSFRC) is an innovative multi-service non-profit agency located in San Francisco’s Mission District. Its mission is to help immigrant families access needed services, develop self-sufficiency, and participate fully as members of the community. Our staff is a diverse and talented team willing to take different and unique approaches to help children, youth and families thrive and succeed.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Service Coordination Manager, this position is responsible for creating a welcoming, professional, and friendly environment for all Good Samaritan visitors. Key responsibilities include iInform families of Good Samaritan’s mission and programs, conduct initial intake and make referrals to appropriate Good Samaritan services and community resources, support newly enrolled newcomer students, and their families, with connection to local community services/resources, and support with assessing families for public benefits and benefits enrollment. This position will be primary point of contact for UCSF Bridges/SFUSD’s referral program and will collaborate with partners (RISE SF School District and UCSF Bridges Clinic Coordinator) in supporting families within the referral network.
Specific Responsibilities
- Receive all visitors who enter the center, providing a positive and welcoming environment
- Support the coordination/facilitation of their assigned program, communicate with the Program Facilitator/Specialist to perform related data entry and track/enter participant’s attendance.
- Ensure communication and interventions with visitors and participants are culturally relevant, acknowledge and value families' strengths, and are responsive to the multiple aspects of the diversity of the families served
- Explain Good Samaritan classes and programs to participants, other service providers, and visitors
- Conduct Basic and Comprehensive Intakes through internal database (Salesforce) to new and returning Good Samaritan Participants which includes assessing needs, completing consent forms and keeping documents confidential.
- Pre-screen needs of those seeking services through agencies and provide information and referrals to internal and external programs
- Work with other staff and service providers to ensure appropriate referrals and follow-up on referred participants
- Responsible for additional documentation and data tracking when assigned participant accompaniments for UCSF-Bridges Clinic and SFUSD referrals (assistance in community navigation of services)
- Work closely with staff of all GSFRC departments and the staff of UCSF- Bridges Clinic and RISE-SF to ensure integration of resources and services across the collaboration.
- Answer incoming calls, route callers or provide information as required in a professional manner
- Maintain and update internal Good Samaritan resources as well as latest community resources and referrals
- Perform community research to identify and add new resources to our resource information guide
- Maintain the reception area clean and keep the work area organized following our latest Intake Team policies and procedures.
- Distribute Good Samaritan mail and handle incoming mail and deliveries
- Follow guidance on access of visitors and monitor the safety of the building and follow security and emergency procedures
- Provide administrative support to staff as needed
- Meet with Service Coordination Manager weekly, attend staff, team, and committee meetings as scheduled
- Participate in training opportunities which are deemed beneficial to professional growth and position
- Comply with the legal standards for mandated reporting
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ensure that programs and services are aligned with Good Sam’s Mission and Vision
- Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor
Other Responsibilities
- Perform some daily administrative support and operating tasks as assigned by the Service Coordination Manager
- Ability to promote, maintain, and contribute consistently to a positive work culture and team environment
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect in communication in all situations and with all stakeholders (participants, staff, parents, teachers, etc.)
- Ability to be flexible and responsive to a variety of student and programmatic needs
- Other job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 year of relevant work experience
- Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends and travel to off-site locations in the community as needed
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to communicate and conduct data entry using technology (Outlook Suite, Salesforce)
- Punctual and self-motivated
- Bilingual (Spanish and English)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with facilitating or leading groups/activities for children and families.
- Experience working with Latinx immigrant community populations
Requirements
- Must clear full background check (Department of Justice, FBI, and Child Abuse Index)
- Must have TB clearance
- Candidates must go through a background check after a conditional offer is made.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English)
- Travel required (accompaniment appointments, satellite site at SFUSD and UCSF Bridges Clinic)
