Purpose within the Organization:
The Campus Garden Attendant serves a vital role in day-to-day operations of the Outdoor Recreation Campus Garden. Campus Garden Attendants listen to and help gardeners/users establish and reach their goals. They organize and facilitate gardeners/users, paying attention to the details of the garden while staying acquainted with the needs of the students. The Campus Garden Attendant will focus on implementation of the short- and long-term goals of the program while maintaining the daily functions of the garden. They will assist in the oversight of vegetable production, Adopt-A-Plot, seedling greenhouse, and educational programming.
Responsibilities Related to Purpose:
- Assist and create in processes and systems to design, build, and maintain the Campus Garden area.
- Work alongside students to build garden infrastructure
- Create and assist in cultivating a culture that is welcoming/eco-friendly/ sustainable for students to get involved.
- Develop processes to integrate students into all aspects of the campus garden.
- Assist in developing partnerships within GCU to help enhance the use of the space.
- Ensure users have access to necessary physical resources (water, fertile soil, etc.)
- Organize workdays and other events/gatherings
- Engage in gardening/landscape at the garden site
- Identify needs and concerns, work to facilitate resolution, and convey necessary info to supervisor.
- Lead and facilitate others in leading -regular on-site educational opportunities for gardeners.
- Participate in Marketing/Promotion events to advertise the Campus Garden and involvement opportunities.
- Complete assigned projects for the Campus Garden by Outdoor Recreation Manager.
- Attend meetings as assigned

Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
- Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program.
- Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
- Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.
You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.
