Who You Are:
The Director of Safety will serve as the company’s senior safety leader, responsible for shaping and executing Wize Solutions’ safety strategy across multiple sites nationwide. This role combines high-level strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight. You’ll work closely with Operations leadership to embed safety into every aspect of our field work, ensuring compliance, consistency, and accountability across all levels of the organization.
Ideal candidates bring a strong track record in building safety programs that not only meet regulatory standards but also inspire genuine cultural adoption among field teams. Bilingual (Spanish/English) candidates are highly preferred due to our diverse workforce, but this is not a requirement.
What You'll Own:
Strategic Leadership & Culture Development
- Develop and execute a company-wide safety vision and strategy in alignment with business goals.
- Partner closely with Operations and Field Leaders to build a proactive, ownership-driven safety culture across all locations.
- Use data and metrics to drive decision-making, assess risk, and continuously improve programs and outcomes.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and visible leader, influencing safety behaviors at all levels of the organization—from executives to field teams.
Operational Safety Oversight
- Oversee implementation of all safety processes, standards, and compliance efforts across multiple project sites nationwide.
- Conduct site visits to evaluate safety performance, coach teams, and ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards.
- Identify trends and areas of risk; develop and implement corrective actions to mitigate hazards and prevent recurrence.
- Co-lead investigations of incidents and near misses to determine root causes, establish preventive measures, and manage return-to-work programs.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Serve as the primary liaison with OSHA, DOT, and EPA at both state and federal levels.
- Compile, maintain, and submit reports required by regulatory agencies and insurance carriers.
- Manage all workers’ compensation claims and related processes efficiently and fairly.
Training & Engagement
- Lead the design and delivery of safety training and education programs tailored to diverse audiences, including bilingual delivery when possible.
- Empower and mentor field safety representatives and supervisors to model and reinforce safety best practices.
- Promote engagement initiatives that celebrate safety milestones and reinforce accountability.
Requirements
Experience You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or a related field
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), or equivalent certification required.
- OSHA 500 certification required.
- 5+ years of progressive safety leadership experience, including multi-site or field-based management.
- Proven ability to lead through influence, inspire change, and foster strong partnerships across departments.
- Experience using data analytics to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong communication, presentation, and training skills; bilingual in Spanish/English strongly preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.
