About the Department
Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks a Program Coordinator to provide organizational and administrative support to the Assessment Center and is responsible for reviewing and evaluating high school academic transcripts and other academic credentials for placement into college courses at CBC. This position is responsible for compliance with all testing processes and procedures with state, federal, and vendor rules and regulations. This position reports to the Director for Assessment Center.
This position is open until filled. First consideration will be given to applicants whose complete application has been received by October 27, 2025 @ 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
Position Duties
- Serve as the primary evaluator of high school academic transcripts using all institutionally approved measures for placement into English, Reading and Math courses;
- Provide placement information to students by reviewing post-testing scores, orienting students on the next steps and recommending additional resources;
- Answer telephone and in-person inquiries from students, staff and community members; use independent judgment and provide stakeholders direction about Assessment Center policies and procedures;
- Train, schedule and direct the work of the Assessment Center student workers and temporary hourly staff;
- Assist with maintaining Assessment Center statistics, including placement data and testing details: prepare monthly and annual reports; use data to make scheduling and placement recommendations to the Director;
- Provide administrative support for the Assessment Center including adapting testing schedules, secure alternative testing laboratories, coordinate special projects and events as assigned, including workshops, development of materials, meetings with faculty, etc.;
- Serve as a liaison to staff and faculty to provide increased understanding and interpretation of assessments and placement procedures;
- Maintain strict adherence to sponsor guidelines and test security and placement exams; obtain and maintain required certification through Pearson VUE as an authorized GED examiner; collect and organize data for GED graduation;
- Collaborate with Technology Services and vendors to maintain test platforms, including upgrades and updates of operating systems and software and/or hardware; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; and
- Two (2) years of professional experience in an educational setting or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English;
- Experience working in a Testing and Assessment Center, Enrollment Services Office or other public-serving institution;
- Experience working in a confidential setting; and
- Experience providing accommodated testing for students with disabilities.

Other Qualifications
This position is a full-time classified staff position. This position is overtime eligible and the typical work hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; however, must be available to work a flexible schedule when prior notice is given by the College. This position is available immediately.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including having the ability to move materials on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. and travel between buildings on campus. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.

Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
