Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing all mechanical equipment to improve plant performance.  The maintenance mechanic will perform various roles, including fabrication, welding, cutting, greasing, housekeeping, plant operation, equipment operation, and various other shop or processing duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair: processor equipment, mill equipment, all mobile equipment, harvest and salt process equipment, and fire protection systems.
  • Complete preventative, predictive, and reactive industrial maintenance throughout the facility.
  • Install, maintain, test, evaluate, and repair various electrical components and systems.
  • Operate standard maintenance tools such as power tools, electric tools, precision maintenance tools, preventative maintenance technology tools, etc.
  • Utilize maintenance trades and components such as welding, pipefitting, fabrication, gearbox and bearing maintenance, lubrication, pumps and piping systems, mechanical maintenance, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Interpret and understand electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, and/or operation manuals.
  • Document completed work and the conditions found, utilizing maintenance computer software (i.e. SAP) as necessary.
  • Interact regularly with external vendors, peers, and management to pursue continuous improvement of facility operations and promote a teamwork focused environment.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklifts, loaders, service trucks, UTVs, and aerial lifts.
  • Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  •  3 or more years of maintenance experience.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills
  • Must have working knowledge of welding, cutting, and general mechanics
  • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits
  • Experience with equipment Lockout/Tagout
  • Punctual and reliable; good attendance required
  • Good communication skills
  • Team-player
  • Basic computer skills
  • Good mechanical aptitude and effective use of basic hand tools.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn new skills
  • Ability to work 4 – 10 hr. shifts weekly

Preferred

  • Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Certification to use loaders, forklifts, and areal lifts.
  • Experience in heavy equipment use.
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and controls
  • CMMS experience (i.e. SAP)
  • Knowledge of conveyors, pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automation.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) 
  • Electrical, mechanical, industrial certifications 
  • OSHA 10/OSHA 30 certifications 
  • NFP70E certifications 
  • Trade school certification or degree in an electrical and or mechanical field, or relevant military experience
  • Experience with precision maintenance, such as laser alignment and/or dial indication
