At Mahaska Health a Radiologic Technologist provides patient care and technical skill in the operation of diagnostic radiographic equipment for diagnostic and evaluation purposes.
$10,000 Sign-on Bonus
Shift differential and weekend package incentive. (35% increase from base pay)
Hours: Weekend package (Friday - Sunday 7pm - 7am)
Essential job duties include, but are not limited to;
- Prepares patients for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing patients’ needs and providing patient education and proper positioning according to the department procedure manual.
 - Practices safety measures in radiography including protecting patients from excessive radiation during examinations.
 - Documents pregnancy status.
 - Confirms patient identification by two patient identifiers.
 - Checks for proper orders, lab results, signed informed consents, and patient preps for all radiology procedures.
 - Administers contrast media i.e., orally, IV, rectally under the supervision of a provider.
 - Documents type of IV contrast media, amount, date, and time of administration.
 - Performs CT procedures as required by department workflow.
 - Performs surgical and portable examinations as assigned.
 - Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross-contamination.
 - Processes radiographic images and examines them for quality. Documents repeat images in accordance with the QA program.
 - Prepares patients’ images for interpretation by the radiologist.
 - Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
 - Practices proper procedure in exam scheduling, order entering, charging, logging procedures, film filing, radiology report distribution, and releasing of images to providers or patients.
 - Keeps all records necessary for the quality assurance program of the department.
 - Follows departmental and hospital policies, procedures, chain of command, lines of communication, and compliance standards.
 - Must have knowledge of applicable standards and codes.
 
Job Requirements include but are not limited to:
- Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or be registry eligible.
 - Must hold a current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health.
 - Required to be current in BLS (Basic Life Support) by the standards of the American Heart Association.
 - Required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at the time of hire or attend within 6 months of start date.
 - Must adhere to all training requirements as mandated by Federal, State, and Professional licensure and regulatory standards.
