Valence Surface Technologies is a full-service surface finishing company specializing in the commercial aerospace, defense, space and satellite industries. With ten strategically located sites across the United States, Valence provides a start to finish solution from NDT and chemical processing, to paint and sub-assembly.
Position Summary:
Responsible for the efficient operation, organization, and assignment of area by shift at the plant. Plans, organizes, coordinates, and executes activities that carry out production activities and maximize throughput.
Responsibilities
- Understands the Valence Surface Technologies Code of Conduct policy, leading by example
- Organizes assigned area to ensure ready access to and knowledge of all orders currently in process on a daily work basis
- Effectively communicates with customer service regarding work that is in the area or coming to the area for processing
- Maintains the shop in an orderly and well-kept manner
- Operates within established safety, quality, and financial guidelines
- Works closely with Production Management and supervisors on other shifts/departments to determine daily, weekly, and monthly work schedules
- Maintains schedule and reassigns labor as work load changes
- Knows what needs to be done on a daily basis to keep the work moving through the production process
- Executes schedule with a sense of urgency, and with sincere concern for safety, quality, timeliness, and cost consciousness
- Maintains and monitors appropriate documentation on all orders
- Effectively supervises employees.
- Gives adequate direction, counsels employees on performance issues/concerns, provides assistance and/or training where appropriate
- Initiates disciplinary actions where necessary according to established procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, and safety regulations (including OSHA compliance).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing production needs.
- Proficient in using production management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and other relevant tools.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
Export Compliance Requirement
This position requires access to EAR or ITAR controlled technologies. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws.
