PUTNAM COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT READING INTERVENTION TEACHER JOB JOB JOB DESCRIPTION QUALIFICATIONS: (1) Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited educational institution (2) Valid State of Florida Educator’s Certificate or Statement of Eligibility (3) Satisfactory criminal background check (4) K-12 Reading Endorsement or Reading Certification Required (5) Valid Florida Driver’s License and acceptable driving record (6) Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in ELA and/or Reading and/or Language Arts preferred KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: 1. Ability to read and interpret documents such as policies and procedure manuals. Follow directions and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. 2. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of current Human Resources leave system and Skyward inventory system (if applicable) or be willing to learn new technology practices. 3. Experience instructing students for the purpose of improving their success in reading, reading concepts, and improving overall reading proficiencies 4. Ability to facilitate engaging, effective, and efficient small-group and individual instruction 5. Administer various reading assessments and analyze assessment data 6. Experience implementing evidence-based reading interventions, as approved and outlined in the K12 Comprehensive Evidence-based Reading Plan 7. Knowledge of multisensory techniques and strategies and the ability to incorporate these into intervention instruction 8. Experience maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, including and not limited to recording, monitoring, and displaying intervention progress and keeping accurate logs of student contact time 9. Knowledge of federal and state legislative requirements relating to reading and literacy development 10. Knowledge of the Science of Reading 11. Ability and willingness to communicate frequently and professionally in oral and written form with parents and guardians, colleagues, administrators, and supervisors 12. Ability and willingness to collaborate with colleagues and respond constructively to feedback 13. Ability to adhere to schedules and time requirements REPORTS TO: Director / Administrator as assigned JOB GOAL To increase students’ reading proficiency and growth by providing targeted reading intervention instruction, supporting the school-wide system of reading interventions as outlined in the K12 Comprehensive Evidence-based Reading Plan, and improving communication with families and school staff regarding students’ progress in reading. Performance Abilities: 1. Serve as a role model for students, dressing and grooming professionally, demonstrating the importance and relevance of reading and reading strategies, sharing a love and passion for reading for learning and pleasure, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in your position. 2. Develop and implement ambitious goals and evidence-based reading intervention plans based on data and informed by grade level expectations 3. Instruct students in small groups and individually using intervention strategies and programs for the purpose of improving success in reading, as approved and outlined in the K12 Comprehensive Evidence-based Reading Plan 4. Learn and effectively integrate multisensory strategies and techniques through approved evidence-based reading interventions 5. Administer various programmatic, formative assessments and analyze assessment data to inform instruction 6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including and not limited to recording, monitoring, and displaying intervention progress and student attendance 7. Communicate frequently and professionally in oral and written form with parents and guardians, general education and ESE teachers, supervisors, guidance counselors, MTSS coordinators, etc. 8. Confer regularly with general and ESE educators who support the same students 9. Work with school staff, district coaches, and colleagues to ensure that all interventions adhere to designated timelines and timeframes 10. Work with school staff, district coaches, and colleagues to ensure that interventions never interrupt core, grade level reading instruction 11. Work with school staff and district coaches to provide parent and family support that is focused on reading strategies, the district’s At-Home Reading Plan, tools and resources for reading, and the promotion of reading for pleasure and reading to learn 12. Recognize and celebrate student growth, student success, student practice, and student reading for pleasure 13. Support school and district goals by providing a visible learning environment and model lessons for coaches, colleagues, and administrators to gain expertise in approved, evidence-based interventions 14. Attend all required meetings, professional development, collaborative sessions, PLCs, etc., as recommended and approved by your supervisor 15. Engage in problem-solving protocols and share input regarding intervention options, progress, and goal attainment with school leaders, teachers, and staff SUPERVISES: N/A PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. Job Description Supplement Code: 6 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District. Position is 10 months; seven and half hours per day. Instructional Salary Schedule.
