About the Department

Essential Functions:

Operates moderately heavy equipment and performs maintenance of public parks
Exercises supervision over subordinate personnel

Position Duties

Examples of Work:

UNDER GENERAL SUPERVISION
Observes and checks operation of equipment for malfunctions
Services and maintains automatic and manual irrigation systems
Operates assigned equipment
Services or makes minor adjustments to equipment
Operates trucks for hauling and pulling equipment
Supervises laborers in moving, separating and loading materials
Makes minor adjustments on equipment
Performs maintenance on swimming pools, chlorinator, hydro chlorinator or comparable equipment
Performs general maintenance on golf courses, tennis courts and baseball diamonds
Uses sandblaster, jackhammer, jigsaws, hand and power tools in the maintenance and repair of park playgrounds and equipment
Performs daily maintenance on turf related equipment
Maintains greens, tees, fairways and ball fields
Assists with plumbing, concrete, or carpentry work
Shows discretion and is courteous to golfers when maintaining courses
Performs related work

Minimum Qualifications

Physical Requirement & Working Conditions:

Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
Lifts and carries items weighing up to 70 pounds
Lifts and carries items weighing over 70 pounds in a team setting
Spends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elements

Minimum Requirements:

Six months of experience working with moderately heavy equipment

Other Minimums:

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

Special Requirements:

Must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or obtain within three months of employment
