Schedule:

Full time

To advance the purpose of InterVarsity Press, this position will work on data distribution and other various data-related tasks in order to aid sales of IVP's print, ebook, and audiobook products.

Supervised by: Associate Director of Digital Sales

Status:              Exempt (salaried)

Location:          Lisle, IL (hybrid/remote work agreement by arrangement, IVP is currently unable to employ remotely in California, Missouri, or outside the United States)

Time: Full-time
Pay: $45,000-$50,000 annually

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES  

 

Personal:  

  • Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world 

 

Contribute to increasing IVP’s sales by: 

  • Partnering regularly with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless exchange of metadata across the marketplace, providing excellent customer service and clear communication. 

  • Distributing book metadata and ONIX to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with industry standards. 

  • Working with the team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to metadata quality, formatting, or distribution across different platforms. 

  • Staying updated on industry trends, standards, and best practices related to metadata management and distribution. 

  • Monitoring and analyzing metadata performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimization. 

  • Setting up and maintaining account contacts, delivery preferences and FTP or other delivery credentials for each account.’ 

  • Participating in larger-scale metadata projects as the digital sales team identifies them. 

  • Researching keywords to assist with SEO on retail sites such as Amazon. 

 

Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by: 

  • Contributing to the development of metadata strategies to enhance discoverability, sales, and marketing efforts for our titles. 

  • Collaborating with other teams to optimize metadata for discoverability and sales performance on online retail platforms, with a particular focus on Amazon.  

  • Stewarding time, equipment, and materials well. 

  • Staying up-to-date with communication and scheduling tools used in the Sales department. 

  • Participating in BISG events to stay up to date on metadata and ONIX standards 

  • Providing support to (Associate) Director of Digital Sales as needed. 

 

Contribute to cross-departmental collaborations by: 

  • Responding to e-mail inquiries, calendar invites and instant messaging. 

  • Working in partnership with other teams on specified projects. 

  • Attending and supporting the work of IVP at conferences as necessary. 

  • Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of metadata workflows and systems to streamline processes and improve efficiency. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS  
 

  • Affirmation of InterVarsity's Statement of Faith  

  • Excellent data analysis skills, including the ability to construct basic reports and queries, understand and optimize metadata 

  • Practical judgment, professional attitude, and diplomacy in making and communicating decisions   

  • Expertise in Excel, Microsoft Suite, and the ability to quickly learn new tools. 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects with multiple components   

  • Experience with HTML is a plus 

  • ONIX or other metadata experience is a plus 

  • Effective oral and written communication skills 

  • Be a self-starter and work independently  

  • Initiative and problem-solving skills  

  • Strong organization and time management skills  

  • Ability to work well in a deadline-driven environment

  • Flexibility to attend the Urbana Student Missions Conference every six years, Dec 26-Jan 1, and National Staff Conference every three years (the year after Urbana), approximately Jan 2-7.

Experience required as described in the section below (dependent on the level of the position posted). Relevant higher education will be taken into account and may reduce the experience required.

Data Distribution Coordinator I – Grade 5 

The Data Distribution Coordinator I is responsible for all the duties listed above and is preferred to have at least 1 year of relevant experience and an undergraduate degree. They will typically work at a level more directed in daily work by their supervisor. 

 

Data Distribution Coordinator II– Grade 6 

Data Distribution Coordinator II is responsible for all the duties listed above and is preferred to have at least 3 years of comparable experience and a bachelor’s degree. They will work more independently and have previous work with metadata. 

 

Data Distribution Specialist – Grade 7 

The Data Distribution Specialist is responsible for all the duties listed above and will be proficient in metadata standards, SEO, and digital distribution.  This role is expected to have a minimum of at least 6 years of relevant experience.  A Data Distribution Specialist will have strong leadership and project management skills and demonstrate a deep understanding of industry trends and advanced problem-solving skills.
