Safely, efficiently and expeditiously use designated welding machines, equipment and tools; and follow established processes and procedures to assemble, prepare and fabricate vessels, as specified by job orders, and stage them for the next process.

Responsibilities

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The duties include, but may not be limited to the following:
        Set up and operate specified welding machines, tools and equipment, with assistance from Supervisor, Lead, or support personnel.
        Read production orders to verify quality standards for specifications, processes and procedures.
        Monitor welding machine operation, performance and accuracy.
        Verify that vessels, materials, parts, procedures and processes conform to applicable work instructions.
        Follow special handling, documentation and traceability procedures for materials with Lot Tracking designations.
        Verify finished product meets specifications.
        Complete necessary documentation for welding procedure specifications, requirements and results.
        Assist in basic cobot set-up: fixture alignment, securing work, weld torch operation and wire feed.
        Maintain welding equipment and cobot peripherals: clean and replace consumables, check hoses and cables, report faults to supervisor.
        Use overhead crane, rollers, hoist or forklift, as necessary, to position and /or move product, as required.
        Assist in diagnosing vessel, materials, machinery, equipment or tool problems and resolve, as necessary.
        Perform preventive maintenance and calibration processes on specified machines, tools and equipment, with assistance.
        Follow directions and perform tasks as assigned by Lead and Supervisors.
        Ensure that work, staging and storage areas are safe and clean.
        Follow the 5S system.
        Operate collaborative welding robots under direction: load/unload parts, start/stop cycles, run programmed jobs, and perform basic teach/adjustments with supervision.

    TOOLS

    The tools used include, but may not be limited to:
        Welding machine.
        Hoist.
        Overhead crane.
        Forklift.
        Oxy. fuel cutting torch.
        Rollers.
        Pneumatic hand tools.
        Basic hand tools.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

The minimum qualifications required include, but may not be limited to, the following:

    Six months to one year welding experience in pressure vessel shop, preferred.
    FCAW, MIG, SMAW welding processes, required; SAW and TIG, a plus.
    Ability to pass prescribed welding procedure tests in accordance with ASME Section VIII (1F fillet)
    Basic knowledge of reading blueprints, specifically symbols used for welding instructions, preferred.
    Basic knowledge of pneumatic hand tools, cutting torch, hoist, forklift and overhead crane, preferred.
    Basic computer literacy for simple tablet/teach pendant interactions.
    Ability to work in a team environment.
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as work instructions, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    Forklift operation, ability to pass an in-house certification and clean driving record, a plus.
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    Ability to read a standard tape measure.
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies (robotics, sensors, controls, etc.)


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High School Diploma and/or GED.
    Six (6) months to one (1) year welding experience in tank or structural shop, successful completion of a technical welder training program or an equivalent combination of experience and education, preferred
