Description:

Position Purpose

Pharmacy Technician in the inpatient area at Mercy Medical Center. Support Pharmacists and ensure medications are distributed properly including refilling machines.

What you will do

  • Support pharmacists in all aspects of pharmacy activities

  • Package and distribute drugs and sterile products

  • Maintain automated dispensing machines (ADMs) stock levels by loading and refilling medications including narcotics for all in-patients

  • Assist nurses trouble-shooting ADM questions and drawer maintenance

  • Dispense controlled drugs with supervision of a pharmacist to anesthetists, and for delivery to ADM machines

  • Inspect assigned nursing units for proper drug storage, stability and expiration dates

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent. Completion of a hospital-based, community college or military technician training program preferable

  • National certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)--if not already obtained-- is required within 1 year of Date of Hire

  • MA Pharmacy Technician state registration must be current; or registration as a Pharmacy Intern and actively enrolled in a school of pharmacy program.
