The Recreation Specialist may be assigned as a Dance Instructor, Fitness Instructor or Youth Sports Coach.

THE JOB:
Under general supervision, to perform specific or specialized recreation work at an assigned playground or recreational area; and perform related duties as required.
Position Duties
Plans, organizes, and conducts groups or classes in specific activities, such as music, dance, dramatics, arts and crafts, team and individual sports, and various other social and recreational programs; directs and maintains discipline in indoor and outdoor play areas; observes necessary precautions to secure the safety of recreation participants and spectators and renders first aid in cases of minor injury; maintains records and assists in submission of reports; and other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be: graduation from high school; enrollment in an accredited junior college, college, or university preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment.
