We are seeking an experienced AVP of Payment Operations to join our Operations team. Reporting to the VP of Payment Operations, the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Payment Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of Deposit Operations and E-Payment functions. This role provides leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, supports strategic initiatives, and serves as a key escalation point for operational issues. The AVP manages team performance, training, and development while ensuring timely and accurate processing across multiple payment channels.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Leadership & Team Management
  • Serve as first point of escalation for Deposit Operations & E-Payments team.
  • Lead and support the planning, execution, and delivery of department-level projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct performance reviews, 5-5-5s, and career development planning.
  • Identify training needs and schedule onboarding and ongoing education.
  • Maintain current knowledge of product updates and regulatory changes.
  • Provide backup support to VP Payment Operations
  • Deposit Operations
  • Ensure timely, accurate processing of daily exception items NSF, Non-Posts, and Stop Payments.
  • Oversee the submission of the daily Check Positive Pay file to mitigate fraud risk.
  • Manage execution of daily File Maintenance requests such as address changes, DRI updates, and sweep account setups.
  • Coordinate and lead the annual Escheatment process, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Review and follow up on Treasury Reclamations, Death Notices, and charged-off accounts to ensure proper resolution.
  • Monitor and reconcile Over the Counter and Teller Vault accounts to maintain cash control integrity.
  • Maintain and regularly update department procedures, task documentation, and process workflows to reflect current practices.
  • Provide responsive support to internal departments and external clients, ensuring service excellence and issue resolution.
  • E-Payments
  • Oversee the entry, review, and approval of wire transfer requests, including incoming, outgoing, domestic, and international transactions.
  • Ensure timely processing of Daily ACH and Direct Send files.
  • Supervise the processing of the daily ACH Positive Pay file to support fraud prevention efforts.
  • Manage the daily update of loan rates across applicable systems.
  • Provide oversight and support for inquiries related to Debit Cards, Zelle, External Transfers, and Bill Pay services.
  • Monitor and manage Mobile and ATM deposit queues to ensure timely review and resolution.
  • Maintain and regularly update E-Payment procedures and the Return Mail log to reflect current practices and compliance standards.
  • Review and track various ad-hoc reports to identify trends, exceptions, and opportunities for process improvement.

               

  • Compliance & Controls
  • Assist with BSA, SOX, and internal control requirements.
  • Manage annual ACH audit including documentation and coordination.
  • Ensure adherence to bank policies, procedures, and government regulations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in banking operations, with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of ACH, wire transfers, check processing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and banking systems.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

The typical annual base pay range for this role is between $94,500 - $114,000. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
