Overview:

Intermodal Operations Supervisor – Florida. IMEX USA is a leading provider of railroad terminal services across Florida. We are seeking a hands-on, motivated, and detail-oriented Intermodal Operations Supervisor to lead daily terminal operations with a focus on efficiency, safety, and team leadership.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, 24/7 intermodal environment—someone who’s not afraid to be out in the field, leading from the ground up, ensuring operations run smoothly and safely.

The Intermodal Operations Supervisor will oversee the movement, staging, and dispatching of containers and trailers, ensuring all activities align with company standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols. This individual plays a key role in maintaining workflow integrity, minimizing delays, and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Lead, train, and motivate frontline operations staff to achieve safety and performance goals.

    • Actively engage in field operations—providing direction, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring efficient equipment movement.

    • Plan and forecast labor needs in advance to meet service demands.

    • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff, from ground personnel to executive leadership.

    • Prioritize multiple and often competing operational tasks with sound judgment and organization.

    • Enforce and promote safety and compliance, including conducting training and consultations with staff.

    • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and employee development.

    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred, not guarenteed. 

    • Experience: Intermodal, railroad, or transportation management experience a plus—but we’re willing to train the right candidate with strong leadership potential.

    • Technical Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; familiarity with AS400 systems preferred.

    • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead teams, delegate effectively, and maintain operational discipline.

    • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with staff, vendors, and customers at all levels.

    • Availability: Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of the rotation schedule.


    Physical & Work Environment

    • Frequent standing, walking, and field activity; occasional lifting up to 150 lbs.

    • Exposure to outdoor conditions, varying temperatures, and moderate to high noise levels.

    • Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license or active drivers license.

 LANGUAGE SKILLS

 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

 

Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as data associated with overhaul, periodic maintenance and supplier contracts.  Ability to evaluate technical information associated with Component parts engineering reports and analysis.

 

REASONING ABILITY

 

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Must have moderate degree of computer skills in Windows operating systems; internet communications; and proficiently use Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel programs.  Must also have ability to learn and utilize skills necessary to optimize AS 400 modules and resources as well as other applicable software programs.

Must have a valid drivers liscence.
