The Property Specialist plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of Ornge’s facilities. Based at head office, this position is involved in the day-to-day facility management across all Ornge bases in southern Ontario. The incumbent is responsible for planning and coordinating essential services - including maintenance, security, cleaning, landscaping and snow removal, waste management, and recycling and to maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for all Ornge staff and visitors.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Contributes to the development and execution of preventative maintenance strategies for all properties in their portfolio.
  • Supervises and administers contractor activities, including the execution of the contract and compliance with safety training, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) clearance and insurance coverage.
  • Acquires quotes and completes required paperwork for procurement guidelines and the Broader Public Sector Directors for Procurement of goods and services.
  • Facilitates space planning requests including new space and moves, at head office and bases, as required.
  • Provides regular inspection of facility equipment including emergency power back-up equipment, fire and generator equipment as well as overhead and hangar door operation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Facilities, Property Management, Buildings, Systems, or a trade.
  • 1-2 years of property specialist, building operator or similar experience at a minimum is required and trade experience is valuable.
  • Experience in planning and leading small building capex projects (maintenance/repair) is preferred.
