POSITION SUMMARY:

The Product Owner will lead the development and delivery of the reinsurance and actuarial technology ecosystem.  The role will own the end-to-end delivery of high-value, scalable products that accelerate transformation, enable rapid treaty onboarding, and continuously improve business outcomes.  The Product Owner will also have the responsibility for fostering strong collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders across geographies, nurturing a culture of accountability, agility and continuous improvement – ensuring that delivery momentum is maintained and ambitious goals are met.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog for reinsurance and actuarial applications, making decisive trade-offs to maximize value and drive delivery aligned to business goals and operational scalability.
  • Translate complex business needs and regulatory requirements into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria that empower teams to move fast and deliver frequently.
  • Drive alignment across multi-disciplinary teams—including internal DevOps, data engineering, and external partners—to deliver seamless, integrated solutions on AWS with a strong bias for action and continuous improvement.
  • Define and communicate a bold, inspiring product vision and roadmap that anticipates evolving business needs in a fast-moving reinsurance environment.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, relentlessly engaging with underwriting, actuarial, finance, and IT stakeholders to gather feedback, validate priorities, and ensure user needs are met with precision and speed.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies efficiently to maintain team momentum and focus, removing impediments quickly and driving continuous delivery of enhancements and operational improvements.
  • Monitor delivery metrics, usage data, and system performance to inform rapid, iterative improvements and uphold operational excellence.
  • Lead and support treaty onboarding initiatives, ensuring scalable, repeatable processes and automation where possible, with an eye toward expanding capacity boldly and effectively.
  • Proactively manage dependencies and risks in a complex multi-team environment, escalating issues promptly to maintain delivery velocity.
  • Contribute actively to governance and change management activities to enable smooth adoption and minimize disruption.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, bias for action, innovation, and agility within the product and delivery teams, encouraging ownership and empowerment at all levels.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, actuarial science, information technology or a related field equivalent experience also considered, is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Agile product management, preferably within reinsurance, actuarial, or financial services domains, with a strong track record of driving delivery and business impact.
  • Relevant Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent are a plus.
  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with cloud-native platforms, especially AWS, data lakes, and modern data architectures is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead Agile teams, manage product backlogs decisively, and deliver complex technical solutions in regulated environments.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data engineers, and business stakeholders across multiple geographies is required.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence, inspire, and align diverse teams and senior leadership around ambitious goals.
  • Familiarity with Agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban, including facilitation of Agile ceremonies and backlog grooming.
  • Highly desirable - Understanding of reinsurance and actuarial processes, including treaty onboarding and actuarial data pipelines is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change, risk, and dependencies effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments while maintaining a strong delivery focus.
