Step into the future of manufacturing excellence at UGN Monroe in Ohio! Officially opened in September 2015 as a 232,500 square foot facility, this cutting-edge operation is a powerhouse of innovation and quality. With approximately 400 dedicated Team Members, the Monroe plant specializes in delivering top-tier acoustic insulation, carpet, and underfloor technologies to companies such as Honda, Toyota, and Subaru.

In 2018, UGN invested $50 million in the facility’s growth, adding 150,000 square feet (65%) to plant capacity. This investment further solidifies UGN Monroe’s reputation as a trusted Tier One partner in the automotive industry.

The Team Leader coordinates with other work cells and departments to meet the production requirements of the company, and meets the needs of the customers, with accountability for results in terms of cost, methods, quality, quantity of production, operations, and Team Members.

What you will do for UGN:

  • Learn and assist in developing Team Members in all TPS principles.
  • Walk through the department with the previous shift team leader to address concerns with the setup of
    the cells, housekeeping, and any manufacturing concerns that may have occurred during the
    previous shift.
  • Review all schedule needs daily.
  • Audit the cells to determine if raw materials, equipment, or a changeover is required to ensure efficient start-ups.
  • Conduct meetings with Team Members at the beginning of each shift to communicate problems and concerns.
  • Ensure all paperwork required by the Team Members is available.
  • Address Team Member concerns and provide resolution when applicable.
  • Monitor staffing needs and work with the Shift Coordinator to schedule coverage and training.
  • Ensure 5-S activities are being performed and address if needed.
  • Reassign Team Members when needed when downtime occurs.
  • Monitor scrap, waste, quality, and production output.
  • Hold bi-weekly team meetings to develop improvement plans. Follow up accordingly.
  • Assist in the training of all Team Members.
  • Develop standard work procedures with the cell team members and ensure adherence to the standards.
  • Ensure Job and Standard Work instructions are correct and in place.
  • Conduct monthly audits with the Shift Coordinator of cell job instructions, 5-S procedures, standard work instructions, and product alerts. Revise as needed.
  • Train Team Members and manage the rotation of Team Members.
  • Ensure all daily paperwork is accurate, complete, and ready to process.
  • Represent UGN at customer locations when quality concerns are presented.
  • Directly supervises the work of Production Operators in the Production Department. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you bring to UGN:

  • 6+ months related experience and/or training in a manufacturing setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Previous experience writing routine reports and correspondence.
  • Experience in speaking effectively before groups of customers or Team Members.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications--Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
