PAY RATE: $30.39/hr. per Union Contract

 

POSITION PURPOSE:

 

Attends to service-related concerns and communication from HART Bus Operators, Dispatchers, Managers, Directors, etc.  Demonstrates a commitment to HART goals and objectives through daily responsibilities, which will include professional oral and written communications using various technologies and equipment. Will be a component of first responder personnel to accidents, incidents, and/or occurrences which disrupt normal scheduled operations. Reports directly to the Superintendent of Operation Control Center and Road Supervision.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Ensures that Agency standards of safety, courtesy and reliability are met by daily monitoring transit operations for adherence to Agency policies, rules, regulations and schedules.
  • Confers with operators regarding proper safety procedures, defensive driving techniques, customer relations issues, report preparation and new or revised policies, procedures and schedules; counsels and takes corrective action when necessary
  • Monitors transit schedules, routes and equipment through field inspection; investigates and reports on schedule and route deficiencies and problems; recommends changes as necessary.
  • Provides information to the public regarding system services; responds to inquiries and complaints regarding services; assures that appropriate information is provided and problems are resolved.
  • Research service requests and makes recommendations on findings; acts as liaison for the Agency in general field public relations.
  • Promote safe operations and practices by interacting with bus operators and other personnel regarding observations using proactive and reactive corrective measurements
  • Required to respond to various events through foot patrols or assigned vehicles
  • Maintain route and street familiarity to develop reroutes and detours incorporating the use of schedule guides and maps.
  • Performs safety and security physical inspections, threat and vulnerability assessments, including but not limited to: gates, perimeter fencing, lighting, building exterior/perimeter doors, CCTV equipment.
  • Responds to passenger/customer behaviors and completes required reports and forms in addition to other prescribed works with law enforcement agencies involving report of/response to criminal activity.
  • Works in conjunction with Bus Dispatchers using audio and visual equipment (e.g. 2-way radios, phones, MDT, SmartCAD, etc.) Required to operate revenue and non-revenue vehicles when required or requested.
  • Take charge of accident or other emergency scenes, ensuring safety and security of operators, customers, and Agency equipment; operates buses or vans when necessary; reroutes buses or vans and adjusts headways in response to field conditions; conducts on-the-scene accident investigation and documentation.
  • Completes, collects and submits reports as required on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Enforces all work rules and the corrective action when necessary.
  • Uses tools to make minor repairs in efforts to restore or maintain revenue service operations.
  • May be subject to working additional hours or other work assignments as circumstances warrant.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education and Experience:

  • High School graduate or G.E.D. certificate. College degree preferred.
  • Two years of progressive supervisory experience required, in a transit environment preferred.
  • Graduate of TSI Supervisors Certification Course is acceptable in lieu of supervisory experience.

Machines, Tools, & Equipment Used:

  • Transit Vehicles, two-way radio and telephone, wheelchair lifts and securement systems.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Florida Driver’s License (CDL) Class “B” with “P” (Passenger) endorsement (Must be able to obtain commercial driver’s license within 120 days of date of hire/promotion)

  • Ability to operate all Authority routes.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Ability to hear, see, speak, and perceive color, depth and texture.
  • Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting objects up to 25 pounds.
  • May be exposed to potentially intimidating and/or unreceptive members of the public; may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, extreme noise and physical harm.
