Essential Job Functions:
- Preparation and review of monthly and annual financial statements.
- Preparation of quarterly and yearly bondholder reports and covenants in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance.
- Preparation of budget worksheets and assistance in preparing annual operating budgets.
- Preparation and review of audit schedules and work-papers for annual audit.
- Preparation and review of work-papers for Medicaid & Medicare Cost Reports.
- Preparation and review of fixed assets schedules and depreciation.
- Reviewing and implementing improvements in accounting methods and procedures; analyze and review internal control processes and procedures.
- Maintains a budgetary control system, collaborating with the finance and various operating departments in preparing operating and capital expenditure budgets.
- Provides the Chief Financial Officer and other operational departments with adequate, accurate, and timely reports reflecting the results of operations with financial statements and budgets.
- Responsible, in conjunction with the Director of Finance, for Morningside Ministries' accounting practices, the maintenance of the accounting records and the preparation of financial statements.
- Maintains ongoing communications with the accounting firm conducting the annual audits, tax returns and cost reports.
- Keeps current with State Department of Human Services and Medicare requirements.
- Works in conjunction with the Director of Finance on any and all responsibilities listed above.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education, Training and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business required. Prior accounting/finance/healthcare experience preferred. Must have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
- Job Knowledge: Must have knowledge of principles of accounting. Knowledgeable of Medicaid and Medicare rules and regulations.

Working Conditions: Works in a clean, well-lighted, ventilated building. Occasional travel is required between community locations to include but not limited to travel to conferences, events, and meetings.
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, lifting-up to 30 lbs., handling, fingering, pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching, overhead, reaching forward, reaching low, stooping, kneeling, climbing, crouching, twisting motion, and balancing. Corrected vision to 20/20 and hearing to normal range.
Special Demands: Must have discretion in judgment, tact and courtesy in dealing with residents, employees and general public.
