Alligare specializes in strategic markets consisting of Aquatic, Forestry, Range and Pastureland, Railroads, Adjuvants/Additives and Vegetation Management. Role Summary

This role will oversee and execute all selling activities within the Transportation & Energy (T&E) + Forestry Segment supporting customers and end-users. This function serves as a product expert, that develops strong business relationships with customers and ensures their support and satisfaction with Alligare products.

An excellent Segment Sales Manager is an influential manager with the ability to lead, empower and motivate, having great communication skills and takes a holistic approach in managing sales team. Additionally, this role plays a key role in new product development and the improvement of existing products with the objective of meeting customer needs.

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

General

  • Create, implement, and execute the business plan for the T&E + Forestry Segment, which includes building and implementing segment forecast models to support revenue targets by customer.
  • Develop strategic price mapping for all levels of distribution customers.
  • Reviews and analyzes segment sales and market records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and to identify potential new customers.
  • Work together with Sales & Marketing leadership team members to develop programs and promotions to increase sales and/or introduce new products.
  • Calculate and map profit margins for each SKU to maximize profit to achieve/exceed workplan projections.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on all tradeshow activities and special programs.
  • Align with the Customer Service team for efficient order entry and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop territories, sales targets, and strategies.
  • Maintains knowledge of market, competition, and best practices and trends in sales techniques and strategies.
  • Support in resolving customer complaints, coordinate with various stakeholders to ensure resolution is reached.
  • Participate in meetings, training sessions, tradeshows, conferences, webinars, and professional development opportunities corporately and with existing customer base.
  • Manage and grow existing customer base by understanding and anticipating customer needs.
  • Maintain awareness of pertinent customer information, future plans, payment performance, and communicate any information that would affect company decisions.
  • Maintain an understanding and knowledge of competitor products and programs by identifying and reporting intelligence on pricing and marketing strategies.

Leadership & Oversight

  • Identifies opportunities for improvement in the segment; implements training, strategies, policies, goals, and other resources to maximize productivity.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales incentive programs that align with overarching corporate objectives to drive desired sales behaviors and revenue growth.
  • Schedules and directs regular segment sales meetings and events to share information, set and revise goals, and to increase morale.
  • Review ongoing territory reports via CRM/HubSpot to include daily activities, competitor information, and customer interaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Experience & Skills

  • BS/BA (preferably) in Entomology, Marketing or Ag Business
  • 15+ years’ experience selling
  • 5+ years’ experience managing a team
  • Ability to travel (up to 60% of the time)
  • Reliable transportation with clean driving record
  • Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills, with proven negotiation skills.
  • Excellent math skills to draft and implement budgets and conduct data analysis.
  • Excellent supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrate proactive problem solving with a strategic mindset to be able to effectively position the company against the competitors while evaluating risks and business trade-offs.
  • Thorough understanding of company’s products and/or services, and those of immediate competitors in the surrounding market.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to make effective decisions that benefit the organization and work toward goals, strategies, and policies.
  • Highly motivated self-starter who can work autonomously and as a part of a team in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • High level of initiative, creative thinking, decision making, and problem resolution skills
  • Inherent ability to influence with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to gain trust
