The Operations Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of day-to-day operations across all Griffin Trade Group facilities. This includes oversight of inventory control, freight logistics, vendor relations, software implementation, internal and external processing, and facility maintenance. The role ensures operational consistency, enforces company procedures, maintains compliance with industry standards, and supports interdepartmental coordination. The Operations Manager also directly supports and assists field personnel when necessary — including Supervisors, Leads, and Material Handlers — by providing hands-on training, operational guidance, and temporary assistance during high-volume period.
The Operations Manager serves as the central link between field operations and executive management, ensuring consistent performance, cost control, and compliance across all Griffin Trade Group locations. This position requires leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to drive standardization and efficiency within a multi-site operational environment.
Responsibilities:Operations & Logistics:
• Oversees daily operational performance across all Griffin Trade Group facilities, ensuring consistent adherence to dispatch, staging, shipping, and receiving procedures.
• Manages all inbound and outbound logistics, including sales order flow and dispatch activity.
• Coordinates carrier scheduling, route optimization, and monitors cost-per-cwt performance.
• Negotiates freight contracts and vendor rates, maintaining compliance documentation for insurance, tax, and DOT requirements.
• Tracks freight KPIs such as on-time performance, claims, and delivery accuracy.
Inventory Management:
• Leads company-wide inventory control standards across Houston, Catoosa, Fort Worth, and other Griffin Trade Group locations.
• Plans, prepares, and executes quarterly and year-end inventory counts; ensures reconciliation accuracy and audit readiness.
• Provides direct on-site training and assistance to Material Handlers and Leads during inventory preparation or count execution.
• Analyzes slow-moving and aged inventory and develops rotation or liquidation plans to optimize warehouse utilization.
• Establishes standardized tagging, color coding, and MTR traceability procedures across all facilities.
• Reviews weekly inventory accuracy reports, reconciles physical counts, and investigates variances.
• Oversees management of damaged, rejected, or claimed material, ensuring documentation per A6 and A20 standards.
Processing & Quality:
• Prioritizes and monitors internal and external material processing including cutting, testing, and heat verification.
• Ensures all processing complies with company standards and ASTM/ASME specifications.
• Coordinates third-party testing and confirms final documentation accuracy.
• Monitors quality control procedures and implements corrective actions for nonconformance's.
Equipment & Maintenance:
• Oversees preventive maintenance programs for forklifts, cranes, mules, and other machinery.
• Negotiates vendor pricing for parts and services; approves replacements for end-of-life equipment.
• Tracks and reviews daily and weekly maintenance reports from Supervisors and Leads.
• Manages inventory of operational consumables such as oxygen, propane, paint, and cutting supplies.
Facility Oversight & Safety:
• Manages facility upkeep including lighting, HVAC, yard surfaces, and infrastructure integrity.
• Oversees access control, yard security, and building systems across all locations.
• Ensures company-wide compliance with OSHA, PPE, and safety protocols.
• Monitors and enforces safety procedures, coordinating audits and corrective actions.
Technology & Systems:
• Leads optimization of the Invex ERP system to improve order fulfillment, inventory tracking, and operational reporting.
• Implements automation tools such as Power Automate and SharePoint routing for process efficiency.
• Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational productivity and team performance.
Financial & Strategic Oversight:
• Prepares and manages operational budgets for each facility, analyzing costs to improve profitability.
• Performs cost-benefit and ROI analyses for new equipment, facility projects, and capital expenditures.
• Oversees freight cost tracking, labor utilization, and overall operational efficiency metrics.
• Supports long-term capacity and infrastructure planning aligned with growth projections.
Leadership & Compliance
• Leads and mentors operational teams across all Griffin facilities, providing guidance and performance evaluations.
• Trains and supports Material Handlers, Leads, and Supervisors in equipment operation, pulling procedures, and material preparation.
• Assists with order pulling, forklift operation, plate washing, or other tasks when needed to support throughput or training.
• Ensures new and existing employees are proficient in safety, color coding, tagging, and inventory verification.
• Maintains communication with sales, accounting, and executive management to align operational goals with company objectives.
• Ensures compliance with internal policies, safety standards, and external regulatory requirements.
• Coordinates internal and external audits, safety inspections, and compliance reviews
