The Career Exploration and K-12 Manager will lead and support key components of the Indy Chamber’s student-to-career continuum, with a specific focus on, K-12 systems, and career exploration. This role will be critical to implementing the Chamber’s youth apprenticeship strategy and building a stronger, more equitable talent pipeline for Central Indiana. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting students and families from early learning through high school graduation, and skilled in collaboration, research, and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

     

K-12 Career Exploration & Apprenticeship Pathways

  • Understand and assess current career exploration initiatives within Central Indiana schools.
  • Partner with intermediaries for early and equitable career exploration opportunities starting in elementary and middle school.
  • Develop clear, actionable student pathways for engaging in youth apprenticeship programs.
  • Promote and distribute toolkits and promotional materials for students, parents, educators, and administrators to support understanding and participation in work-based learning.
  • Stay current on state and federal policies impacting early learning and advocate for business-aligned solutions.

Youth Apprenticeship Career Fair Implementation

  • Develop implementation resources and guides for schools that outline how to participate in the career fair, prepare students, and integrate the experience into their academic or career exploration efforts.
  • Work with intermediaries as a liaison for participating schools, supporting counselors, CTE directors, and teachers through every step of the planning and implementation process. 
  • Coordinate logistics for schools attending the fair, including transportation planning, scheduling, chaperone communication and student readiness materials.
  • Work closely with the Director of Talent and Workforce Development to support district-wide engagement efforts and ensure smooth handoff from commitment to execution.

Family and School Engagement

  • Support and distribute the designed resources and communications for families and school staff that explain the value and process of participating in youth apprenticeship.
  • Support schools in preparing students for career transitions—whether to college, career, or continued training after high school.
  • Act as a bridge between education stakeholders and the Chamber’s broader workforce goals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in early childhood education, K-12 education, nonprofit, or workforce development roles.
  • Experience collaborating with schools, education nonprofits, or public agencies.

Preferred Competencies

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple timelines and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills and comfort engaging with educators, families, and business leaders.
  • Mission-driven with a commitment to advancing equitable access to education and career opportunities.
