POSITION: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Manager
REPORTS TO: CEO
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving the organization’s revenue growth through strategic partnerships, fundraising initiatives, and successful grant acquisition. This role combines relationship-building with strong research and writing skills to secure funding that advances the mission of the nonprofit. The Business Development Manager will identify opportunities, cultivate donor and partner relationships, and write compelling proposals and reports to ensure sustainable growth.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Business Development & Fundraising
- Develop and implement strategies to expand funding sources, including corporate sponsorships, foundations, government agencies, and individual donors.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and funders.
- Identify opportunities for strategic collaborations that align with the organization’s mission.
- Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and networking opportunities to promote visibility and partnerships.
- Plan multiple events including an annual Gala for the organization.
- Other duties as assigned.
Grant Writing & Management
- Research and identify new grant opportunities from private foundations, corporations, and government entities.
- Prepare high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications tailored to funder requirements.
- Manage the grant application process from prospecting to submission, including tracking deadlines and reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of grant activity, funding pipelines, and reporting schedules.
- Collaborate with program and finance teams to gather data and develop compelling cases for support.
Strategic Growth & Reporting
- Track, analyze, and report on fundraising and business development performance metrics.
- Work with leadership to set annual revenue goals and monitor progress toward targets.
- Prepare donor reports, updates, and impact stories to strengthen relationships and demonstrate accountability.
- Stay current on industry trends, funding landscapes, and nonprofit development best practices.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s or Associates’ degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, or business development within the nonprofit sector.
- Proven track record of securing grants and cultivating donor/partner relationships.
- Strong persuasive writing, editing, and research skills with the ability to tailor content to various audiences.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable networking and presenting.
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency with donor databases, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
