About the Role
Key details:
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week, hours to be discussed at interview (38 hour role which could be spread across 4 or 5 days depending on what the apprentice would like)
- Wage: £7.55 per hour
- Location: 71 Station Road, Liss, GU33 7AD
- Apprenticeship Standard: Level 3 Early Years Educator
- Duration: 18 months
Overview of the role:
As an Early Years Apprentice at Single Steps Nursery, you’ll be supported to gain hands-on experience working with young children (typically from birth to around 5 years old). You’ll learn through doing, under the guidance of experienced practitioners, while also working towards a recognised childcare qualification. The apprenticeship helps you develop the skills needed to support children’s learning, development and well-being in a safe, caring, inclusive environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in creating a warm, nurturing, safe, and stimulating learning environment for children.
- Support day-to-day care: feeding, changing nappies, toileting, personal hygiene, helping at mealtimes and rest times.
- Work alongside a “key person” to help a small group of children, observing and recording their development and progress.
- Help plan, prepare, and deliver activities that promote learning through play, both indoors and outdoors, according to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Maintain health, safety, hygiene and safeguarding standards in the nursery.
- Interact with children to support their emotional, social, physical and educational development — encouraging language, creativity, independence.
- Liaise with parents/carers to give feedback and share observations about children’s progress and well-being.
- Work as part of a team, supporting other staff and participating in meetings or training.
Apprenticeship Summary:
- You will work towards your Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification across a total duration of 18 months!

- An allocated tutor will support you throughout the apprenticeship!

Qualifications Required:
- GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) - Essential
- GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) - Essential
