What you'll be doing
This is a position under the Execution Effective and Research – Fixed Income Implementation group. As a small team that serves as a contact point across the entire organization, under the direction of the Senior Manager, you are required to work in a fast-paced environment, having to prioritize and multitask a number of different items that may arise. The main responsibilities are to manage the daily trade activity, prepare reporting, analyze and troubleshoot trade issues, analyze trade activity to ensure trades are being done in line with policies and procedures, assist with in-kind transfers, portfolio rebalances, and complete ad hoc requests as required.
You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. This arrangement can change on business needs.
How you'll succeed
Reconciliation - of previous day’s trade activity in Bloomberg against SS&C. Analyze and resolve discrepancies as required.
Confirmations & Settlements - manage confirmation process of trades where applicable. Investigate and solve any outstanding settlement issues in liaison with the back office, brokers and PMs. Determine downstream impact of changes to trades due to settlement discrepancies.
Reporting - produces highly sensitive regulatory, internal and client reporting accurately and efficiently.
Managing the daily trade activity – required to work autonomously in handling daily trade activities which includes but is not limited to – ensuring trades are flowing through from front office to back office systems, troubleshoot and escalate issues as required, set up securities accurately and efficiently, ensure overdrafts are covered, monitor Foreign Exchange batches, liaise with data steward to ensure data integrity in trading system and address other ad hoc issues as it relates to trading.
Portfolio Manager Support – assist with troubleshooting issues in Bloomberg as required, attending to ad hoc request and generate reports on request. Monitor activities, analyze daily and weekly trade activity to ensure trading is being done in line with controls and policies. Perform quarterly monitoring activities to ensure account data is up to date.
Assist in completing in kind transfers - portfolio rebalances and complete various ad hoc requests from across the organization.
Challenge Status Quo/Generate new Ideas – challenge legacy tasks that may no longer add value, take initiative to find new ways to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Who you are
You have a degree in Commerce with a major in Finance.
You’re a certified professional. You have CFA completed or actively pursuing it.
You can demonstrate a minimum of 2 years working experience in finance.
You have experience in handling settlement issues.
You are proficient in MS-Office. Experience using FMC, PC Bond and Bloomberg AIM is an asset.
You are able to work as a team. Autonomy, initiative, sense of responsibility and organizational skills are required.
Ability to multitask while meeting tight deadlines.
