The Charles Chang Institute for Entrepreneurship is SFU’s hub for interdisciplinary entrepreneurship and innovation education, connecting students, faculty, and community partners through courses, programs, and co-curricular experiences that develop entrepreneurial thinking and action. Housed within the Beedie School of Business and serving all SFU faculties, the Institute leads the Education Pillar of SFU Innovates, advancing the university’s priorities in innovation, community impact, and student experience. About the Role
This newly defined role will lead student recruitment and communications strategies for interdisciplinary entrepreneurship and innovation curriculum. Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Academic Director, the Manager, Communications and Student Recruitment develops and implements targeted outreach to increase enrolment in the Charles Chang Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and related courses. The role engages students, faculty, and advisors across SFU through in-class presentations, digital campaigns, and collaborative storytelling to build awareness and drive class and certificate recruitment. A key member of a restructured leadership team, the Manager ensures cohesive messaging and alignment across curricular and co-curricular initiatives, working with academic advisors, faculty and student organizations to promote entrepreneurship learning pathways.
You are a strategic, relationship-driven communicator who combines creativity with strong planning and execution skills. Experienced in student recruitment or academic outreach, you understand how to turn awareness into enrolment through clear messaging and coordinated campaigns. A self-starter who works effectively across faculties and teams, you bring sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. You take pride in delivering accurate, engaging communications that strengthen academic programs and expand student access to entrepreneurship education.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related discipline, and four years of relevant experience in communications and/or marketing, student recruitment, academic outreach or a combination of these areas, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Proven ability to design and execute data-driven recruitment strategies that deliver measurable enrolment growth.
- Clear understanding of student engagement, academic outreach, partnership building and program promotion in a post-secondary environment.
- Excellent writing, editing, and digital content development skills.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders.
- Collaborative and diplomatic approach to cross-functional teamwork and brand alignment.

Additional Information
The assignment end date is 1 year from start date, anticipating extension.
While the Chang Institute’s primary office is located at SFU Surrey, this position will involve travel across all three SFU campuses and may occasionally require evening or weekend work. The Institute operates on a 4 days in-office / 1 day hybrid schedule.
