THE OPPORTUNITY

 

Reporting to the Vice President, Portfolio Strategy & Asset Management, this position is responsible for providing strategic analysis and insights that shape real estate portfolio plans, business cases and strategic initiatives, aiming to optimize the use of real estate across the City-wide portfolio and advance City building priorities.

 

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Support the requirements of the portfolio strategy function in CreateTO, including portfolio optimization, strategic initiatives, and real estate solutions for client services.
  • Leverage all available sources of data and information (e.g. strategic plans, open data, market data, planning policies) to develop asset, portfolio and program intelligence.
  • Lead data intake, quality management and reporting for various real estate portfolios and analyze information using Excel, GIS systems and other applicable tools
  • Manage projects and support the development of strategic portfolio plans for various asset classes (e.g. office, industrial, parking), by analyzing financial, operational, and asset performance data to inform real estate recommendations and policy decisions
  • Prepare executive communications (e.g. business plans, case studies, reports and presentations) for senior leadership using various applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GIS systems)
  • Provide advice, using evidenced based research and analysis, to support asset optimization, business performance improvements, and the use of technology to improve organizational competencies  
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal teams, City divisions, and external stakeholders to advance projects and represent agency interests.

 

CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES


  • University Degree, with a focus on real estate, urban planning, business or public infrastructure
  • Preference of 3-5 years of experience in a corporate real estate function
  • Experience with data analysis, including financial data, asset management information, market data, and business performance metrics; ability to analyze data and provide insights using Excel, GIS and other applicable tools
  • Excellent research and data analytics skills, with a track record of involvement in large-scale data initiatives
  • Knowledge of city planning policies, municipal operations and stakeholders or public sector real estate operations
  • Ability to develop business cases and support recommendations using clear, concise rational
  • Experience supporting large-scale strategic planning at a portfolio and/or organizational level
  • Knowledge of asset management practices and various real estate asset types, including office, industrial, community infrastructure, etc.
  • Excellent relationship building with a strong customer focus and a collaborative working style
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to think strategically and across various issues, including financial, policy, technical, intergovernmental, legal and operational
  • Demonstrates competence in MS Office applications; ability to learn quickly and adopt/implement new technology
