SUMMARY: This position is a full-time position located in Shelton, Washington. This position is responsible for providing nursing services to tribal patients and employees. This position will provide a range of duties including but not limited to; triage, patient education, nursing visits, and nursing assessments. This position is integral to the medical staff team made up of 2 physicians, 2 physician assistants and support staff. This position will also work with a multi-disciplinary team of medical, behavioral health, pharmacy, and dental.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides medical information and direction to patients and employees of Squaxin Island Tribe.
- Researches, interprets and provides health education to patients and employees as requested.
- Adheres to all standards within the Nurse Practice Act of their respective licensing agency/state including Assessment/Analysis, Problem Identification, Planning and Evaluation of patients.
- Works with health care team to facilitate current health promotion and disease prevention initiatives for Squaxin Island Tribe.
- Communicates significant changes in patient status to appropriate members of health team.
- Interacts with Health Director for purposes of quality assurance, consults and medical direction.
- Participates in multi-disciplinary treatment planning.
- Support agency advocate for community cancer screenings.
- Documents all patient encounters in electronic health record.
- Advocates for patient health care needs.
- Assists in the organization and provision of community health awareness workshops on behalf of the health clinic.
- Delegates nursing functions in accordance with education, competence and credentials as defined in WAC 246840-010 (10).
- Participates in meetings to integrate patient care.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position provides supervision to Medical Assistant staff.[KC1]

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write, speeches and articles for publication that conform to a prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a current and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse. Must have a valid Driver’s License. Current TB Test, CPR/First Aid and HIV/AIDS/STD certification/training required. Must have BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification. Knowledge of and familiarity with ICD 10 and CPT codes required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Science in nursing and 4 years of relevant experience, must be a Licensed Registered Nurse and have three years experience functioning as a Registered Nurse. Experience working in a community health organization preferred.
