As we continue to grow, we’re opening a new part-time opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant or Technician to join our Emergency & ICU team.
As our Outpatient Assistant/Technician, you'll play a vital role in patient intake, stabilization, and supporting the smooth flow of cases between ER and ICU. You’ll be the bridge between the front desk and medical teams—ensuring patients are quickly and safely assessed, comforted, and prepared for further care.
This position is perfect for someone eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced emergency hospital with the support of experienced mentors and specialists.
🕓 Position Details:
- Role: Veterinary Outpatient Assistant or Technician
- Type: Part-Time: 5p-10p Wednesday & Thursday's and 5p-1a Saturday and Sunday's
- Department: Emergency Room & ICU Support
- Location: 6393 Lee Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37421
- Room to grow into a Full Time opportunity in the future, if desired.
🐶 What You’ll Be Doing:
- Assist in triage and treatment of outpatient and emergency cases
- Perform or support venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and blood draws
- Administer medications via IV, IM, and SQ routes under DVM supervision
- Monitor and manage IV fluid therapy, including pump operation and line maintenance
- Use medical math to calculate drug dosages, fluid rates, and nutrition plans
- Safely restrain animals for exams, treatments, and emergency procedures
- Assist in emergency surgeries, CPR, and crisis situations as needed
- Maintain patient comfort through routine care (walks, feeding, hygiene)
- Accurately enter patient data into EMRs and treatment logs
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of ER doctors, specialists, and support staff

✅ What We’re Looking For:
- A minimum of 2 year of clinical veterinary experience (emergency, general practice, or specialty)
- Strong clinical skills, particularly in emergency or fast-paced settings
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and team-first attitude
- Comfort with veterinary software and EMRs
- Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT or LVMT) in Tennessee – strongly preferred
- Proven ability in:
- Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
- Medication administration (IV, IM, SQ)
- IV fluid management and pump operation
- Medical calculations for dosing and fluids
- Triage and outpatient case support
- Familiarity with critical care terminology and outpatient workflows
