Employment Type: Part-Time

Hours: Four 8-hour Shifts per week (No Weekends, No Fridays) 

Location: St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO

 

The Pain Management Registered Nurse plays an integral role in enhancing the quality of life for patients experiencing acute or chronic pain. This RN is involved in assessing, planning, and implementing individualized care strategies in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The Registered Nurse is responsible for educating and supporting patients in pain management techniques and therapies, ensuring a compassionate and comprehensive approach to care.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

 

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' pain levels, medical histories, and other relevant information to create personalized pain management plans.
  • Develop and implement individualized patient care plans in cooperation with physicians and other health professionals.
  • Educate patients and families about pain management strategies, medication use, potential side effects, and treatment options.
  • Safely administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for efficacy and adverse reactions.
  • Assist in delivering non-pharmacological pain management interventions such as physical therapy, relaxation techniques, and cognitive-behavioral strategies.
  • Partners with physicians, physical therapists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide holistic care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, treatment plans, medication administration, and progress notes.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance pain management protocols and patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations, including patient safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards.

 

Qualifications:

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
  • Ventilator Management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
