Job Overview
The Geospatial Science Part Time Clerical position plays a vital role in supporting student engagement and academic programming through the coordination of midterm visitations, symposium planning, and enrollment tracking. This position is responsible for managing logistics, maintaining accurate student data, and facilitating communication between students, educators, and administrative staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in educational program coordination, be comfortable using digital tools for data management, and possess strong communication and problem-solving skills. The GIS Program is a dual enrollment opportunity through James Madison University where students learn to use ESRI's ArcGIS software to collect, analyze, and visualize spatial data. Through projects, students explore real-world geographic problems and develop skills in mapping, data analysis, and spatial thinking.

- Assist in coordinating midterm visitation schedules and ensure full coverage of all student visits.
- Attend student visits as needed.
- Communicate final project symposium assignments to students and collect speaker and helper information.
- Track student enrollment and annulment for the upcoming academic year.
- Communicate enrollment limits with school principals, counseling directors, department chairs, and teachers.
- Organize the GIS symposium event, including scheduling, student partner collection and coordination with JMU.
- Communicate session schedules and ensure students are informed of their symposium responsibilities.
- Collect and organize student project links, ensuring proper sharing permissions are in place.
Qualifications
Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Experience
Experience in educational program coordination or administrative tasks; experience in K-12 or higher education environment preferred
Licenses and Certifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks across months
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with students, staff, and external partners
- Knowledge of Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Forms) and basic data management
- Detail-oriented with the ability to track student data accurately and identify discrepancies
- Proactive problem-solving skills, especially in rescheduling and coordinating logistics
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced educational setting
- Comfortable using spreadsheets and digital tools to manage schedules and student information
