EDUCATION:                              

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of documented Maintenance Experience

 

QUALIFICATION:

     1.  The ability to:

  • Read, interpret and apply information from documents such as handbooks, Board Policies, contracts, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints and procedure manuals.
  • Write work orders and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before contractors and staff.
  1. The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  
  1. Possess good habits, character and attendance record.     
  1. Be capable of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with contractors, staff and others.     
  1. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate. 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is responsible for maintaining district buildings, mechanical systems and equipment in a manner to ensure a comfortable  learning environment for students, staff and community members.    

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements below are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by a person in this position. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all duties that may be performed by such a person.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Custodial & Maintenance Director.
  • Responsible for the direct day-to-day supervision of the maintenance employees.  The position is a working supervisor position which is assigned both supervisory and non-supervisory responsibilities. 
  • Has experience and abilities in all aspects of Facility Maintenance.  The Maintenance Lead must have knowledge and skill in many areas, but is not expected to be an expert in all areas.  Areas to be knowledgeable  include, but are not limited to: Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Grounds, Maintenance, Equipment Repair, and Door Hardware.  
  •  Monitor the quality of work being done throughout the district, and as needed, address performance issues within the maintenance department.
  • Serve as the district’s lead person to address concerns related to the performance of the maintenance department by working with departmental staff, building administrators and other stakeholders in communicating and solving maintenance related issues and concerns. 
  • Assess the need for, schedule and monitor work performed by third party contractors.  Work with contractors to assure quality and timeliness of contracted services.
  • Monitor the district’s work order system and assign work orders to the appropriate maintenance staff.  Monitor work order completion to assure work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Works closely with the Maintenance and Custodial Director to stay abreast of district needs and priorities. 
  • Must comply with all Federal, State, and Local safety and code requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining all athletic fields and facilities.
  • Responsible for snow removal in the district.  During snow events, will coordinate snow removal assignments for the maintenance crew members.
  • Is available for any work assignment as deemed necessary to resolve maintenance and/or operational problems within the district. This could include working overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. 
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with co-workers and district staff. 
  • Responsive in a courteous and helpful manner to all members of the community. 
  • Reports to the proper authority any unsafe or dangerous conditions existing on school properties or within the buildings and any irregular use of buildings and grounds. 
  • May be required to be on emergency call lists for the district as needed. 
  •  Performs additional duties as assigned or directed by the Maintenance & Custodial Director.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months

PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 45 Working Days

EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the policy of the Board of Education regarding  evaluation of non-instructional (support staff) personnel.
