Elementary Long Term Substitute- Paraprofessional en Orchard Farm School District

Discovery Elementary is a Leader In Me Lighthouse School. We are seeking a positive and talented Paraprofessional to join our Special Education team as a long term substitute!

Paraprofessionals provide social, physical, and academic support and/or supervision in education settings, including but not limited to, the cafeteria, classrooms, recess, and assemblies. 

Anticipated start date: Late September or early October 2025.

(after long term role, ability to stay on the substitute roster for additional positions within the district)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 36 credit hours from an accredited college/university or 20-hour DESE approved substitute training course
• Missouri Substitute Certificate 
• Ability to relate to students, staff, and parents in a positive manner
• Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form
• Ability to follow written and oral communication 
• Ability to problem solve

An individual who holds this position is required to:

• Assist students with disabilities according to their individualized needs, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, or positioning
• Assist students with physical care including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene
• Assist in managing the behavior of students
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students
• Maintain confidentiality of information about children and their families in accordance with Board policy and law
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings and special events when requested by administration
• Help supervise arrival and departure of students, and provide supervision and support in multiple settings throughout the school day
• Follow instructions from teachers and administrators

 REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS:

• Missouri substitute teaching certificate required or valid Missouri teaching certificate (preferred)  
• Job related experience is required
• Cleared Background Screenings including FBI Fingerprinting and Family Care Safety Registry, required 
• Resume, copy of transcripts (if applicable), copy of certification, if applicable, 3 references email/phone, required

Substitute holding a Missouri Substitute Certificate:
Rate of pay: $125.00 a day ($133.00 a day in Early Learning Center only)

Additional $10.00/day after 10 days

*Long Term: $165.00/day

Substitutes holding a Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate:
Rate of pay: $150.00 a day ($158.00 a day in Early Learning Center only)

Additional $10.00/day after 10 days

*Long Term: $190.00/day

Retired OFSD Teacher

Rate of pay: $200.00 a day ($208.00 a day in Early Learning Center only)

Additional $10.00/day after 10 days

*Long Term: $240.00/day
