As a GIS Technician at HS2 you will be required to undertake land assembly activities as directed to secure entry to land for each work package within the allocated contract area in accordance with the construction programme through the implementation of compulsory purchase powers.
About the role:
- Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
- Manage capture and processing of L&P acquisition records including registered titles, possessed land, land acquired under discretionary schemes, compulsory acquisition including material detriment, blight notices and payments made under discretionary property schemes (home owner payments, cash offer payments);
- Lead preparation of maps and plans for land hand-back, land transfers and disposals;
- Derive additional datasets through advanced GIS analysis and processing;
- Lead interface between Land & Property and the corporate HS2 BIM/GIS team to ensure standards are maintained;
- Adhere to HS2 GIS standards and specifications, through implementation and management of effective quality assurance processes;
- Assist with design, development and implementation of new or enhanced data specifications, standards and processes;
- Assure spatial data delivered by the Land Referencing Consultants (PSC) to defined HS2 standards;
- Provide point of technical expertise within the Land Assembly team, and provide support to other areas of Land & Property as required;
- Lead collaborative working with PSC to improve efficiency and accuracy of spatial data delivery;’
About You:
Skills:
- GIS data management skills, including digitising and data capture, analysis and assurance, and preparation of data schemas;
- Ability to coordinate groups of stakeholders and agree requirements;
- Ability to analyse and manipulate data within a Geographical Information System and digital mapping environment;
- Attention to detail and accuracy;
- Ability to work in a team and independently when required
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS 10.3.1 desktop applications
- Knowledge of GIS task automation.
- Understanding of database design;
- Understanding of data capture and assurance techniques;
Type of experience:
- Experience of ArcMap within infrastructure projects;
- Experience of capturing, analysing and assuring spatial data using Excel (or equivalent), GIS and database reporting tools;
- Experience of writing macros to assist with GIS operations e.g. plan production;
- Experience of operating within a project/programme environment.
