About the Department

Join the team at Idaho IceWorld, Idaho’s premier indoor ice skating and entertainment center! We’re seeking a Senior Ice Skating Instructor to lead youth and adult skating lessons in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. This position is perfect for experienced skaters who are passionate about teaching and helping others develop their skills on the ice.

As a Senior Instructor, you’ll deliver high-quality instruction to individuals and groups of varying skill levels, serve as a mentor to other instructors, and help foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere for all participants.

This position open to qualified individuals 18 years of age or older.

Position Duties

  • Provides ice skating instructions and advice for groups. Ensures a safe and effective learning environment for all participants. 
  • Answers questions from participants and parents as required in accordance with City of Boise Policies and procedures. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be a U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach through a recognized figure skating club or as an individual
  • Must complete CER Class C within six month of date of hire
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience within a U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skill Program or ISI weSKATE program.
Knowledge of: 
  • Ice skating techniques
  • General customer service standards.
Ability to:
  • Maintain good relations with parents and players
  • Display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations
  • Communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance 
  • Complete assignments in a timely fashion
  • Understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance
  • Perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation
Licensing And Other Requirements
  • U.S. Figure Skating Registered Coach Membership

Special Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass:
  • City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 10 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk and run. Working Environment

  • The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures and in wet and humid conditions. Work includes protected exposure to bodily fluids.
