As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, and ensuring a safe and functional environment for employees and visitors. This role demands a strong attention to detail, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

 Key Responsibilities:

Routine Maintenance - Perform regular inspections and maintenance tasks on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Preventive Maintenance - Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to prevent equipment breakdowns and extend the life of building systems.

Repairs - Diagnose and repair equipment, machinery, and building components as needed, ensuring minimal downtime and disruptions.

Safety Compliance - Ensure that all facilities are compliant with safety regulations and maintain a safe environment for employees and visitors.

Emergency Response - Be available for emergency response situations, such as power outages, equipment failures, or building security issues, and take appropriate actions to resolve them promptly.

Record Keeping - Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs performed. Report any potential hazards or safety concerns.

Inventory Management - Manage and maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies necessary for facility maintenance.

Collaboration - Collaborate with other team members, contractors, and vendors to complete maintenance and repair projects effectively.

Energy Efficiency - Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and recommend measures to reduce operational costs.

Communication - Communicate maintenance needs and updates to General Manager, including cost estimates for repairs and replacements.

Grounds Maintenance - Maintain the exterior of the facility, including landscaping, lawn care, and snow removal to ensure a well-kept and safe outdoor environment.

Painting and Finishing - Perform painting, carpentry, and finishing work to repair and enhance the appearance of interior and exterior surfaces.

Janitorial Duties - Assist in janitorial tasks such as cleaning common areas, restrooms, and break rooms, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene standards are met.

Security Systems - Monitor and maintain security systems, including alarms and access control, to ensure the safety and security of the premises.

Fire Safety - Coordinate regular inspections and tests of fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and alarms with service providers, and coordinate fire drills and training for employees.

Building Inspections - Conduct routine inspections of the building's structure and envelope to identify and address issues such as leaks, cracks, or structural wear and tear.

Tenant Relations - Interact with tenants, employees, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner, addressing their maintenance-related concerns promptly and effectively.

Emergency Preparedness - Participate in emergency response training and drills, and assist in developing and maintaining emergency evacuation plans.

 Requirements:

  • Technical or trade school certification in a related field is a plus.
  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance, building operations.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform strenuous tasks.
  • Reliable transportation for supply runs to local hardware stores
