Overview:

SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking a Specialty Property Intern to support our underwriting and analytics teams. Based in our Fairfield, CA office, this role offers hands-on exposure to specialty property insurance while giving you the opportunity to apply your data analytics, research, and problem-solving skills to real-world business challenges. 

You’ll work side by side with Specialty Property leaders, product, risk and data analysts and underwrites to analyze data, develop insights, and contribute to initiatives that drive growth and risk management across the portfolio. 

What you’d be doing: 

  • Support underwriters to evaluate individual risks by analyzing third-party-data and identifying patterns or trends within the portfolio. 
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of dashboards and reports (e.g., Excel, Domo, SQL, or other tools) to track business performance. 
  • Conduct ad hoc data analysis and research to provide actionable insights that inform underwriting decisions. 
  • Partner with Specialty Property leaders on special projects related to pricing, portfolio strategy, and market expansion. 
  • Assist in preparing presentations and materials for leadership meetings and client discussions. 
  • Contribute to process improvements that streamline underwriting support and strengthen cross-functional collaboration.

We’re looking for someone who has: 

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics,  Actuarial and Data Science, Risk Management, or a related field.   
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights. 
  • Intermediate skills in Excel required; familiarity with SQL, Python, or BI tools a plus. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with teams. 
  • AI experience or coursework (e.g., applied AI, machine learning, natural language processing, or workplace analytics tools).
