Power Mechanical, Inc. is seeking a hardworking, career-oriented person of good character to thrive as a Purchasing Assistant within our organization. 


Reports To: Purchasing Department Manager


The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for, but not limited to:

• Perform forklift deliveries as required

• Research and resolve PO missing paperwork

• Places POs and fulfills requests for quotes as needed in support of the Purchasing Agent

• Process employee PPE requests

• Research and resolve missing credit card receipts

• Create item cards for new items not in system

• Research and resolve unreceived PO’s

• Prepare PRO tickets, UPS outbound and inbound deliveries

• Maintain timely credit card receipts

• Prepare tools for vendor repair

• Stay current with unreceived PO’s

• Close out any open POs that should have been received by the last week of each month

• Proofread job numbers, quantities, item cards, etc on POs

• Log any process discrepancies as needed

• Process requested orders for materials via email, walk-in, phone, material request forms

• Create PO/item cards as needed

• Follow up with vendor for receipt/delivery date

• Email requestor PO#, any details pertaining to order, and anticipated delivery date

• Requestor quote-provide item specification and delivery/pickup timeframe

• Request purchase approval from Department Heads

• Assist Purchasing Agent and Shipping/Receiving and Inventory Coordinator as needed

• Receive and invoice POs as needed

• Scan and attach all purchasing/receiving/invoicing documents to POs

• Obtains invoices from vendors as needed

• Assist Shipping/Receiving and Inventory Coordinator with monthly stock counts

• Other duties as assigned


This position requires:

• Experience in an industrial setting

• Knowledge of steel, fittings, and industrial parts preferred 

• High school diploma or an equivalent

• Accounting experience is strongly recommended and preferred

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• Excellent customer service 

• Effective communication skills

• Working knowledge of ERP purchasing system (Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred)

• Ability to negotiate pricing ensuring the lowest standard cost

• Analytical with the ability to effectively solve problems

• Ability to safely operate a forklift (training provided)

• Effective verbal, listening, and communication skills

• Attention to detail and high level of accuracy

• Computer skills including spreadsheet, emails and word processing programs

• Experience with expense, MRO items preferred

• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing internal and external customer service


Candidate should be willing and able to learn, be dependable, and have a good work ethic. This position is full-time.
