JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Sales & Operational Planning will focus on leading the company’s efforts to
create, maintain and expand relationships with national, multi-location existing and prospective industrial customers, meeting or exceeding the Company’s strategic growth and profitability goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Direct the Company’s efforts to grow our sales and operational planning.
  2. Strengthen the understanding of and competence.
  3. Develop relationships, strategic alliances and/or partnerships with equipment vendors, engineers, regulators, and other key stakeholders and thought leaders within targeted vertical markets and segments
  4. Directs national account sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly
  5. Communicating internally including key activities, resource needs, goals, and progress toward goals
  6. Demonstrate consistent use of sales best practices, personally and with all team members, including: sales territory and account planning, customer segmentation, value propositioning and the Synagro Sales and Pipeline Management Process
  7. Participates and supports the VP of Sales to establish national account sales strategy, quotas, and goals
  8. Analyzes and controls expenditures on national sales activities to conform to budgetary requirements
  9. Review market analyses to determine customer needs and price requirements
  10. Participates in national account marketing plan research, development and implementation

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  1. Exhibits proactive decision making and problem solving skills to resolve customer issues quickly and creatively
  2. Must be organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills
  3. Analytical skills with ability to interpret and communicate results
  4. Ability to effectively move between individual contributor and team management role
  5. Intimate knowledge of the strategic goals, purchasing practices and user needs of the targeted vertical markets (F&B, P&P);
  6. Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office
  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, process work correctly in a timely manner, set priorities, work under pressure, and follow through with assigned tasks with limited supervision
  8. Must possess the ability to maintain flexibility to travel extensively in a multi-state territory

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business or related field. Equivalent experience may be considered;
  2. 8+ years’ experience in national account type sales, selling value-based environmental equipment or services (e.g. industrial water/wastewater treatment equipment or services; other equipment sales; facility cleaning, inspection, repairs and maintenance; engineering services, or chemical supply) to the food & beverage or pulp & paper industries with a demonstrated, quantifiable track record of success.
  3. Must have executive business to business relationship building experience within the targeted vertical markets

  3. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
  4. This position requires travel and overtime
